I've been lurking around this forum for a couple of weeks and decided it was time to come out. Yes, I admit it, I like falcons. I think I've always known this but now it's time to tell it to the world.
I was just downtown looking for the kids and couldn't see hide nor feather of them. Walked all around, used the binoculars, and still didn't find them. It's freaking cold out there with the wind, so I imagine that they've found shelter somewhere. Bet they were warmer than I was.
Loved the reference to bunnies. I have two, and believe me they are fast!!! Well, used to be till I took them to the vet.
I've only seen sparrows do the tango, but I suppose it's not much different for a falcon.
I'm a spotter for the east side and will start going on the roof of my office building when the snow is gone. I'll let you all know what I see.
Good for you bccs, glad you came out of the closet  ;)  As you can tell, we're all a bunch of falconaholics here  ::)
We also pretty much love all other species as well.  There has been some controversy about the Ravens, which I'm sure you've read in hiding ;), but we do love them for the bird they are!

Okay, so now I know one secret shortcut to smileys. I'll have to be careful with my excessive punctuation or I'll get more than I asked for. Thanks for clearing that up.

AHHHH! I got another of those stinky looking smileys in the middle of my post above. I didn't put it there, it just appeared! Why would that happen?
If you put 3 question marks, it automatically turns it into the "huh" question-smiley.

1000 hrs - Trey and his lady love are both on the east side of the Hotel perched in the sun.  He is on "his" cherub on the Paris Building and she is on the ledge just under the roofline on the Sterlin Buildings.  There is a bit breeze but these spots appear to be out of the wind and in full sunlight.  He is looking east - so not in her direction or in the direction of the nestledge.  She's in the midst of a major preen.

Greetings all!

I'm new to peregrine watching, so any tips about the distinguishing features (other than their leg bands) of Trey & Princess would be most welcome. I have recently started a position in the Kensington building and I was very excited to see both peregrines on the cornice of the Sterling building at various times on both Thursday & Friday this week!

I have a similar vantage to the pictures of "her Highness?" posted yesterday. Just before Princess(?) spent ~2hrs sitting on that corner, I saw a flutter of feathers as Trey(?) appeared to be trying to sit on her... I guess this is some of the frisky-falcon behaviour that might continue over the weekend!

I look forward to next week's sightings!

Welcome Seven and congrats on the new job!  We have some other peregrine spotters in the Kensington Building so you are in good company there!  There are some ID tips on in the Projects Photo Gallery - Peregrine Portraits - they are from last year, but they are still valid.

Hi Seven, and welcome from me too! :)

Ballywing - your nuts and I quite enjoy it.  We sure do need something to do with all the incubating going on at the various site's.  I marvel at the patience the birds have to sit there waiting for weeks on end.
