1424 hrs (local) - we have light rain and its still +7c here right now.  Wind is from the east at 24 km/h, so that means it gets swirled around the buildings and the birds get hit from varying directions, fortunately, 24 km/h isn't very strong - just fluffing the birds' outer feathers.  Looks like Princess on the eggs at the moment, she's tucked down, facing north, tail tucked into the building and looks to be napping away the raindrops.  Gravel showing a bit dark, so definitely some damp.

According to the forecast, this may be our last rainshower (knock on wood) until next week - the chance of rain tomorrow has disappeared!  The winds seem to be coming from all around the compas over the next few days, but 5-25 km/h range which is easy enough for the birds to handle, even with chicks.  Temps are rising as well, 13c Wednesday, 16c Thursday, 19c Friday, in the 20s into next week.  Yippee skippee!

Wait a minute and the weather will change.... it sure is dark here!  And I see spits of rain.  Good thing it's 8C, or we'd be looking at snow too!

As a last resort, now about a big long plank that will stretch from my roof to the ledge ::)

No luck so far, and yes the cut-off date is fast approaching.  But be happy, cut-off date arrives, cam goes live  :D

As for the cherry-picker, none of them go up 14 stories but it was a nice thought!

As you might imagine, I have been keeping an eye on the weather forecasts and right now, looks pretty good for the next 14 days, mostly dry and temps above normal for this time of the year.  Can't tell what the winds will be like however ....

Any progress on plans to install the 'tray' TPC  ??? - I guess time is running out pretty quickly. I saw workmen with a 'cherry picker' at the MTS Centre after our lunch date on Friday - was tempted to ask them if they'd do a quick detour to the next block for a good cause.... :P

1140 hrs (local) - lots o' napping.  Princess is on-duty, the sky is overcast but bright. Temps are going up and there is a bit of a breeze but fluffing, not pushing strength.  Didn't get much of a look when she did a bit of re-arranging a few minutes ago, but still looks like just the three eggs.

We are at 28 days since 3rd egg was laid and incubation began.  Hatch watch basically starts now ...

1735 hrs (local) - Princess is sound asleep with her beak in the gravel on the nest ledge.  She is getting fluffed during the gusts but it does look like that so long as they face south when the wind gusts from the north they are able to deal with the wind today.  Trey did get flipped a couple of times, but he's getting good at not taking the eggs with him.

Working on posting more photos in the gallery after I've finished checking the Forum ....

2:37 pm and the sun is out again. Still gusty with the wind, but we've had much worse.

Yes Whitehorse, it seems it's always windy here - and depending which way the wind is blowing, the location of the DANG nest ledge can become quite the wind tunnel. At least it's sunny and warm-ish today though!  8)

Poor little perigrins!  I thought Winnipeg had nicer weather than that!  Is it normally so windy?  Doesen't sound like you are getting much better weather than I am!

Thanks for the updates Tracy, glad to see they are doing ok so far!

1123 hrs (local) - Trey does not like facing south.  He has tried to turn around twice now and gotten blown off the eggs both times (great handstands!!).  Now he's backed them into the corner and he has his tailfeathers well tucked up against the building and almost in the corner.  He's going a bit lower than Princess but that may be because he's easier to flip, or he's just had enough and plans to sleep through his shift.  Either way works I guess.

I do have some screen captures, will try to post later today, have work to do first ....

Forecast -

Low today was to be 7c, currently it is 6.2c.  Wind has shifted to the north, 39km/h, gusting to 52km/h currently (gusts forecasted to 60km/h). Curiously enough, Environment Canada says the wind is NNW at the Forks (not far from the Hotel) but I'm not sure of that - the cam doesn't usually move this much (as I recall) when the wind is NNW.  Anywho, temps are  suppose to steady out at the low (we're there!) but the wind isn't suppose to diminish to light until this evening. Temps start going up on Tuesday and continue through to Sunday with some maybe rain on Tuesday, less maybe rain on Wednesday - nobody is estimating amounts of precipitation so probably not much (<1 cm/0.4 inch)

Just for interests sake, remember the rain on the 13th, poor wet Princess and all that ... 24hr total was somewhere between 38 and 56 mm (1.5-2.2 inches).  She got wet, eggs stayed dry, gravel drained without problems.  Just as a relative scale for future rain events ...
