It's a nice thought, but the wind wouldn't take them there.  Positive thoughts everyone....they will fledge when there are watchers out.  Okay you boys (bah) boys, you just wait.  And as for you young lady...don't get any ideas from your brothers, they'll just dare ya! :D

Good evening everyone just thought I would tell our out of towners that just below the ledge is the top of the Radissons parkade enclosed ramp so if they do flutter straight down they have something to land on. ;)

The most important part of fledge watch is to have eyes watching the chicks as they fledge.  With luck it just means a week, maybe two of watching chicks fly from rooftop to rooftop.  Or if they come down, finding them and getting them to help.  The most important thing is to have eyes on the chicks.  Second most important thing is to have bodies if we need them to quickly - particularly bodies that have some idea of what to do in an emergency - that could be as simple as call me ...

Does that help?

Yeah and hopefully not about, "so, who's gonna go first?"

Two kids on the ledge facing in, one on the cover. Kinda cute, looks like they're having a chat,  :)

Oh thank you camera god!

There were three - my browser refreshed and only saw two. :o

Nice to see three again. :) . . even if two are walking on up there on the edge of the ledge.

Dennis - the photos of the chicks up on the ledge are priceless - we can really see their colours and markings. They are looking so grown up!

I think you've capture Princess with a Mona Lisa expression in this one - http://www.pbase.com/photosbydennis/image/113931508
What ever could she be thinking? She certainly looks deep in thought.

That spot between the ledge and the drain cover seems to be the prime spot for serious napping.

Looked like somone is getting ideas about getting up on Trey's Point . . . .there he goes.

Now he's back on the nestledge.

Looks like we have incoming food - okay - someone didn't like it - sent Trey to go get more? (boy - you kids wait till you have to go out and get your own shorebirds - then you'll know it isn't as simple as it looks)

Nice close up....been away for a while so that was great to see them so close...not so much the little scamper on the ledge, thankfully he didn't stay long.
Tracy, when are you anticipating fledge day???      Gotta get ready for that :(

Quote from: The Peregrine Chick
All the chicks are fat and happy and still on the nestledge.  At the moment, the little boys are sitting on the vent and our girl is lying between the vent and the wall and is mostly obscured by her brothers.

Today is Day 35 for the chicks.  The males will fly first, then the female.  I have had chicks fly at 35 days but it was a lone chick and I was already having trouble keeping it in the box (its name was Sherpa - guess why  ).  I am anticipating that fleding will occur about Day 40, that is Saturday.  Winds are forecasted for SE 5 km/h - today winds have been 15 km/h with gusts to 30 which of course is being funnelled down Smith Street.

Anyone interested in helping with fledgewatch, pm or email me with your name, phone number, email address and when you will be able to help out.  If you work downtown, let me know and include your work phone number.
