Both birds flying around the Radisson, and now both perched on the tower - could TPC & Dennis be checking the nestbox???

Somebirdie (I think it was Princess - is she lighter in colour overall than Ivy?) was having lunch at about 2:20 p.m. on the Southeast corner of the NewPort Centre. Lunch seemed to be somewhat reluctant. She just about dropped it off the ledge but managed to pull it back in.   :)

Hopefully I'll be able to confirm that they have chosen the nestbox in the next couple of days ....
How exactly do you confirm this, TPC? :-\

I open box, look in box.  If eggs are present, Princess & Ivy have chosen the nestbox  ;) ;D

Actually that is pretty much how it goes everywhere, you can't be sure who's going to nest where until they actual lay their eggs.  I don't even like to count my eggs until they hatch ...
I know that my question may have sounded rather simplistic, TPC, but being a relative "newbie", with lots to learn still, I had actually wondered if there was some way you could tell that they had chosen the nestbox, by looking at the scrapes or something else.  :-\ I did not really know that this can only be confirmed by actually seeing eggs in the nestbox. :-[ So I guess we'll just wait to hear from you, after you and Dennis have had a "look-see"! ;)

Sure sounds like it from the birdies' behaviour Pam. ;D

A question for you TPC.  I know I am being anxious but here goes.

Once the place they decide to lay their eggs is determined, how long after that until the camera is up and running?

Thanks.   :)

After leaving BP to head for my bus at MTS of course looked to the nest box and what did I see a falcon, really white breast, sitting on the rail of the box, watched for 5 minutes or so and then it took flight. Put down the binocs and it headed to the Rogers sign, followed the flight and then looked back with the binocs and there was one sitting on the ledge of the nest box and did not look like the first one I saw. Think there are or is a egg in there and there are alternating now. But not an expert and ony guessing. TPC will let us know when.

It would be nice to think there is an egg there already, but in fact the adults don't pay much attention to the eggs until such time as they begin incubating - have seen them leave the nestledge for considerable periods then return to hang out on the edge between egg layings ... but I hope you are right ...

Well, if, that's IF they nest in the nestbox, Mother Hen may need to have a falcon watch party because more eyes are always better........  ;D

Having watched the activity on the east/nest ledge the past 2 years (and the west 3 years ago), it would certainly seem to me that the activity is on the west/nest box this year (it's a given that I am no expert!).  Let's hope for eggs/chicks/fledglings in whichever site they choose!
