there have 2 falcons there, the banded one and an unbanded. I never see them at the same time but they have gone in right after the other on occasion. Peter and I will try and drive out there again this weekend.

I think these 2 are a pair.
the banded one may be the female from last year and may have lost her transmitter.
she looked just fine to me yesterday.

Makes sense, or she could be moulting there right now.  I have had some of the most beautiful flight photos screwed up because a bird has moulted out one of his/her flight or tail feathers!!!

TPC, the reason I think she has an injury is because I saw what looked like a big tuft of feathers missing from her right wing at the elbow, and her feathers were not sitting properly.  Of course, this may have just been an optical illusion, and she is fine; but boy, does she ever look like she is in disarray whenever I see her.

if this box had sound, it would have been loud.

I have the box wired for sound and yes things get very loud. We don't broadcst audio since there is too much wind and background noise.

Our falcon is back, checking out the nestbox and everything else in the vicinity.  It looks to me like she has an injury on her wing; but if so, it obviously is not bad enough to slow her down.  And if it is an injury, it is possible that she had a fight with the other falcon I saw there a couple of weeks ago.

Bev, you may know more about this than I do.

Anyway, whatever is out there, she is letting them know that she is not to be trifled with.
LOL, Elaine! Just like a feisty peregrine female!  ;) I have heard that our "Princess" here in Winnipeg has been known to sound like that, on occasion!  ;)

Our female falcon is back, and she does not seem to be in a good mood.  She has been sitting on the perch, stretching her neck and yelling (for lack of a better word) at whoever is flying around.  She looks all puffed up, and I don't know if this is because she is angry, or if this is how she always looks.  Anyway, whatever is out there, she is letting them know that she is not to be trifled with.

Just for clarification Bev, these are the hawks you saw right?  They aren't falcons ...

Falcon was just in the nestbox; this is the same one that I saw last week:  he/she has a large band of white around neck and half-way down chest, then a necklace of black dots.  Again, the falcon looked agitated, and somewhat frazzled - I wish we could see what is going on; all I can do is hope there is not going to be any more territorial battles.
