Yeah banding is usually done quickly so as not to stress both the chicks and parents out, however since mom is banded she probably knows about the evil humans.  Now I"m starting to worry, did she fall out or are they doing strange experiments on her...you never know with those university types, probably gave her a keg  :D

Mom left and it looks like dad came for a quick check.  Now there is a, different(?) parent on the top of the nest box, beside the cam, looking all around.  Now gone.
Maybe they are off dive bombing the returning band crew!?  This is such a long time with no news.

I saw the empty nest and quickly updated my posts to read all your notes.  The mom is quite composed for missing her chick for two hours.

Poor mom, she's back again looking.  This banding is longer than a normal one, it should only take an hour at the most and it's been almost 2 now...I sure hope everything is okay.

Well I got an 'out of office' reply on the email but as baby is 26 days old she's obviously been spirited off for a banding.  She's been gone over an hour already...hope Bev is present and gets some good shots and lets us know if it's a she or a he.

I agree, I wish they would give us some notice about banding.  Even though I expected it, it would be nice to be certain, as I don't know if the chick is being banded, if it fell out of the nest box, was attacked by a predator, or whatever.

Baby is gone...they must be banding her.  There's a parent outside looking for baby.

Wow, total face-plant nap right now.  If the feathers didn't move on the refresh I'd think the camera was frozen (except she did turn her head once).  Must've been a big breakfast!

Morning!  Baby has been alone for the most part although she did have a quick visit from mom during which time she made her position clear 'bring food'!  She's been sunning herself and flapping her wings quite a bit this morning!
