This nest box really made me nervous, but I didn't realize that could get out of the back side of it and onto some type of roof. They will definitely wing flapping room up there, if they don't try it all at once. Just observed 3 out of the nest on roof and one still in nest.

Not watching this closely, Alison - but I think I see 3 chicks above the nestbox in the first pic you posted, and four inside in the second one.  I'm going to assume all is well and they are progressing nicely.  ;D

Does anyone know what happened with the chick who was out of the nest box? I haven't been online for a few days, and when I checked the site this evening, I could only see one chick in the box at first. Then I realized there were two more visible above the box:

A little later there were at least three. I can't really see the fourth one at the back clearly enough to tell whether this is a chick or an adult:

First...a big shout out to Bev. for posting the Edmonton pics...I've just been so caught up in the Columbus and Harrisburg nests that there has been little time for anything else....but I just had to post this pic from this morning...this nest makes me sooooooo nervous...but, I think they have solved their leg room issue...

I wonder what the new condo looks like - I hope Alley and her mate will accept it. While Mariah didn't accept her new nest box location, although the nest box was the same one she had used all these years, the Jersey City falcons accepted the new nest box provided for them this year as soon as it was installed (they have three chicks in the nest).

It will be interesting to see if Alley will like the new "condo" - she's been here for 4 years now I believe ... Mariah in New York wasn't enamoured of her new accommodations this year ...

These chicks have no ledge room. Is it as small as it looks, and why would a falcon want to nest there, as they say, couldn't swing a cat around, not that I would. If I am remembering right this box won't be there next year. I guess if other nests have worked there, why not again, just find it amazing!

The four chubby chicks this afternoon:

I just noticed that there is a "Name the Chicks" contest. Since Alley is from Winnipeg, maybe people from Winnipeg should name her chicks?

well. as we (not me, but someone) used to say in the Deep South:

"I'm fuller than a tick on a fat hound dog."

that's what those full crops remind me of.  :D

It's getting crowded in the nest box now. The chicks all have full crops:

It's good to see Alley with four babies. They are being well fed - two feedings within about 40 minutes this evening:

Yup, perfectly explains why Alley was playing Peregrine A/C for her chicks!

Do you know what the temperature was there when the photo was taken Alison?  The parents do that not so much as mantling (especially with a roof on their box) but usually as a sun-shade (not necessary here) or to catch & funnel air over the chicks - peregrine a/c if you like ...

The pics I posted were saved at (from the top): 19:21 p.m., 19:20 p.m., 20:10 p.m. and 20:27 p.m., Lincoln time. I cropped them rather than reduce them in size in order to show the babies better, but I still have the originals.

According to weather.com, the high in Lincoln on May 18 was 91 degrees F, and the low was 60 degrees F. There was no precipitation, and it was windy.

Hope this helps.
