If you are watching and see the male come in, his band is O/Y

What colour is his band Bev and is the Y horizontal or vertical?

This is the first time I caught them there this year. How beautiful to see someone standing guard on the perch.

Thanks Tracy.
I will see if I can find archive.

someone asked where the twig came from/. It was probably under the gravel or on the side of the box and when they were digging it around it was uncovered. that is my thought anyway.

And she leaves

For those of you who don't want to post photos you know you have posted here before, you can go find the photo from last year and include a link to the thread OR just tell folks where the photos are - for example, last year's thread on June 7th.  The archive is set up chronologically so it shouldn't be too difficult to find stuff ...

Just as an option.

Bev - I will try in the next couple of weeks to go through all your photos and copy some to our photo gallery so we will have a record of Radisson over the years!  I know I said I would do it last year, but it sort of slipped through the holes in my list of things to do ... Sorry, will try to get to them soon!

Radisson's band number is R/7 I believe ....

*TPC heads off to her shoebox to check *

Yup band number is vertical R over sideways 7 which is written in the official records (real official, not just mine ;) ) as R/*7 for those of you who want to know.  The black band signifies Canadian, wild-hatched young.  If you get a look at her silver band, don't go blind thinking you can read the numbers, there are 8 or 9 of them and they are small and embossed into the metal.  They are there to help if the bird is found injured or dead.

BTW - if you should ever find a silver band, some say FWS or CWS on them, tape them to a piece of paper with your name, address, phone number and email address and detailled information on where, when and how you found the band - include photos if you have 'em and mail to the Canadian Wildlife Service or the US Fish & Wildlife Service and they will contact the bander and also provide you with information on the bird you found.

There is a 7 on one of the bands, I'm just zooming in right now on the current photos.
