It is lovely to see a pair hanging along together so long post nesting ... good sign for next year and potentially for a long successful time together!

Well done April, Wingo & RCF!  ;D

September 16 2020

Things are different with the falcons this year, most likely because there is a new female.  After the chicks fledged I didn't see them very much downtown, adults or chicks.  I guess they have been out at the Tower.  I saw both Wingo and April but only one chick and the last I saw a chick was August 20th and it was out at the Tower.

Brandon Tower Nest ~ http://www.species-at-risk.mb.ca/pefa/forum/index.php/topic,4855.msg107254.html#msg107254

So, for five days in a row these two were out at Tower in the early morning. I did see them out there in August also. It seems April prefers being out there and Wingo followed her. I hadn't seen a falcon at the McKenzie building for the past two weeks until yesterday.

For now, Wingo and April are still here as of yesterday. :)

This morning

These two look to be doing very well.   :)   Wingo in the nest box, April on the south light and chicks on the roof. 8)

I didn't see either chick in or on the box this morning. Both parents were on the McKenzie building so they are probably on the lower roof or very close by.

Oh those two look ready to go aright ... maybe the cooler weather this week will be the catalyst.
Fingers crossed either way!!!

And I was looking at the top picture on July 4th and both those ankles look kinda chunky ...do they seem like that to RCF? Can you have a look (photo or no photo) next time you are checking on the kids? From that July 4th photo I'm kinda leaning towards maybe 2 girls ... but you "see" them which is always better ...

I thought that earlier but it's hard to tell. There doesn't seem to be a significant difference in size between the two.....so maybe! :-\

I think in all your recent photos RCF that we can only see the feet on one of the chicks - yes?  I as because the feet on the bird on the left in your top photo below I am confident belong to a female!!

They are growing fast - same age as the Radisson birds and seemingly willing to take the next (big) step in their own time. Hopefully that attitude will serve them well!

These two were on the roof of the box today! I'm not sure of the gender now.....maybe two female or two male.  ???  If mom would hang with them it would be easier to tell. But that didn't happen today and they will be self feeding anyway.

These two are losing all their white fluff and able see their lovely brown feathers.  They were watching mom, she had a pigeon on the northeast corner of the McKenzie roof which while was there never shared with the chicks, she cached it somewhere. Wingo was on the north side also.

Oh those two will be up on the edge of the nestbox sooner than we'd like!  :o

These two are getting well fed by the looks of it. Wingo likes to bring the marsh birds home.  He had an American Coot last week and just the other day he brought a Killdeer.

We had some nasty weather here Friday where the wind and rain was from the northeast so directly blowing into the nest box. I did see three chicks in there on June 10th but today I am only seeing two.

June 10th ~ three heads

June 11th ~ very wet

Today ~ food arrived

Both April and Wingo left the kids on their own for the hour I was there this morning. I couldn't see any heads and I seem to miss the feeding of them so far this year.  ::)
She did fly up to the east light and whined at Wingo who was perched at the top of the clock tower. She finally went back in the box just when I left.

I could see a chicks head this morning....lucky day!  There was a nest exchange and Wingo was in the box with the chick or chicks.  April was on the tower across the street.

April doing the mumbrella to shade her chicks this morning. There is a bit more poop art on the back wall under the box too!  ;D

Oh, now that helps - think that will make the chicks about 5 days old - that seems to be about when they can get some height/distance on their poop shots!

There may be a hatch here! I can't say for sure because I saw no food go in the box yet.  But by the actions of April it does look like it.

Here's hoping!

Kind of looks like there may be eggs or an egg in the box. I saw April eating on the Scotia building then she was in the box not long after that.  A little cool, (- 2) to leave the egg(s) unattended I think. Wingo looked like he was hunting.

Looks like Hurricane is not going to return!  She nested here for 11 years and she certainly contributed to the peregrine population. I think she and her mates had 30 chicks fledge.   :-*

An adult unbanded female showed up April 1st and has been interacting with Wingo since then, just doing what peregrines do!

Hurricane hasn't returned as of yet but could still. I think the latest she was back was around April 13th or 14th, so who knows!  So I just wait and watch, that's about all I can do!

Some photos of the unbanded female who I have dubbed  "April".

This news was overdue to be tweeted but last week, besides the weather, turned out to be crazy ...

Today Wingo had a friend visiting.  This female looks young with both grey and brown feathers and she is not banded. We watched Wingo bring her a food gift, which she took and left with it. Twenty minutes later on we watched Wingo show her how great a flyer he is by swooping close to her over on the Scotia building...fun to watch!

Hurricane is usually home around the first of April, so we shall see what happens if and when she comes to her summer home. She did chase a female away last year.

Wingo enjoying some pigeon the other day.  ;D

I think he caught this pigeon on the walkway between the two buildings. He was on the roof ledge and made his way to the brick wall and kept looking over the edge and then saw him dive down. We found him on the other side eating on the Annex building. Didn't have to work to hard for that meal but then again there are a lot of pigeons around here!
