She can still surprise us all. WOW, we were hoping for one or two. The old girl seems like a spring chick... ;D

So glad Princess chose the nestbox - the last two of her eggs were laid in the rain which when you watch her laying eggs (granted it is faster than human delivery but she's such a little bird) making her do it in the pour rain would just be Nature being a nasty so-and-so.

The box may not make the process any less seemingly unpleasant but at least she napped in the dry on the eggs until a couple of minutes before, she was dry, sheltered from the wind and disturbance during and then she was back napping 10 minutes after.

Still just 3 eggs.  May or may not have a fourth this year.  If we do, best guess is that it should be laid in the next 24-36 hours.

TPC:  Will Princess' and Smiley's eggs be safe in the nest box with all of the rain this weekend? Is there drainage?

Oh heck, they won't even get damp because of the roof in the box.  But yes, all our boxes have drainage, at the Radisson the drainage is really only needed in the spring when the snow in the box melts.

Such good news.  She nested in the right place this year (whew!), and has 3 eggs. Way to go, Princess! Looking forward to chicks on the webcam this year.   ;D

And we have a third egg as of today.  Incubation should begin shortly and then we'll just have to see if we get a fourth egg during shift changes.

AMAZING NEWS, given her age. Wow, she is really something. Ahhhh, Princess, you never disappoint. :)

Your Royal Highness,

I'm very happy that you have agreed with Smiley and settled into that protective nest box this year.

You've certainly helped ease some stress for many of your fans. :-*

He may be a slob at home, but he's the only Radisson male I've watched keeping the scrape warm in advance of his offspring's egg-ventual arrival which helps to endear him even though he is a bit of a slob at home.

Thank you for sharing this capture from April 9 TPC.

It's great that Smiley seems to prefer the nest box - and how sweet it was of him to help Princess keep the scrape warm and cozy.

Love you Smiley :-*
