We're lucky here, there has been very little rain since 0730 and the cloud cover has on a few occasions shown a little bit of blue sky, oh that it would last! The wind keeps constant at about 46 to 50km/h still from the northeast. :(

0600 hours
Not raining at this hour but the wind keeps blowing 45 to 50 km/h another not a very nice day. 24h rain amount 14.4ml according to the official site, on my rain gauge 24ml. In the nest box Hurricane is blowing in the wind but sleeping.

Hurricane is settled down on the eggs - she's looking out and seems pretty dry so she certainly knows at least one dry spot to hang out when not on duty.

They both like to perch under the black/green ledge on the south side of the bulding where it's out of the wind, it's one of the places they cache their prey.   :)

2004 hours: Raining the last few hours at times heavy and the wind is constant from the northeast about 40 to 45 km/h. Brooklyn (I assume by size) is sound asleep on the eggs.

That looks like that was the western end of the storm that was hitting Winnipeg a bit earlier - the system is circulating/rotating east to west ... looking at the radar, once you are past that, the rest of the rain we will receive is sort of the tail end of the spiral if that makes sense.  Nice to see Brooklyn and Hurricane dry during a major storm ... not like 2011 when even a nestbox couldn't help out two still a bit inexperienced parents.  (for folks who are new to the McKenzie Seeds pair, that was their first really bad weather as parents)

1542 hours: That's Brooklyn on the eggs now and he must have been somewhere dry he doesn't look at all wet. The wind just tipped him over and put him up on his nose and now he is playing with the stones. :)

Not raining now and has only rained 2/10 of an inch since it started but what ever rain there was has been driven in by the northeast wind (45km/h and gusting higher). Birdie on the eggs should start to dry off until the next rain starts.

Hurricane looks like a feather duster with the wind & rain ruffling her feathers. At least she has an overhead cover to somewhat protect her.

I hate it when you can see white through a wet bird's feathers, they are soaked poor things.

1100: Just started to rain only a drizzle yet but the wind is from the northeast (40 K/h) and will be driving right into the nest box so our two can expect to get a little wet.

On the camera inside the nestbox the gravel looks damp but can't tell on the window cam image ... if there is rain, given the direction of the wind (from the north east) then it/some should be blowing into the nestbox ... so far I'm glad we have another couple of weeks before these kids hatch ... hopefully the rain won't return for their debut ...

Brandon forecast for today ...

Day - Overcast with a chance of rain, then rain in the afternoon. High of 13C. Windy. Winds from the NE at 30 to 35 km/h. Chance of rain 90% with rainfall amounts near 15.0 mm possible.
Night - Overcast with rain. Fog overnight. Low of 8C. Windy. Winds from the NE at 25 to 30 km/h. Chance of rain 90% with rainfall amounts near 9.4 mm possible.

TPC when you give the forecast could you just close your eyes and ignore the weather channels  and  say Sun! Sun! Sun! for at least the next week, we've had enough of these dark, dreary and rainy days(about an inch of rain yesterday). Please! ;D

You have no idea how much I wish I could Rose  :'(  (oops, adding to the rainy forecast!)
Yesterday it looked like this  week's rain might be the last for awhile, but no such luck I see there is more coming to Brandon next Monday (Winnipeg Tuesday) but then it's looking a bit dryer again.  For those of you in Brandon, the rains not quite the issue it is in Winnipeg because your birds were smart enough (or trained well enough) to use their nestbox ...
