Right now you can see the chicks are growing quickly out of their first set of downy feathers - compare them with the McKenzie Seeds chicks and they don't look so fluffy anymore ...

These poor little guys are just not going to get any shade this year......sure wish they were in the nest box!

It's six of one, half-dozen of another - sunny in the morning on the ledge or sunny in the afternoon in the nestbox  :)

Yup - that's definitely true.  And I guess the morning sun usually isn't as intense as the afternoon.  But I just seem to remember them being able to hide along that back wall in the nestbox and pretty much be out of the sun.....

Princess was trying to get them both under her a little while ago - they were having none of it!!  Kinda fun to watch them squirm away....

Couldn't get "on" earlier (have a call into our ISP to find out what's up) so I'm a bit late with these

Chronology:
  • 0538h - first meal
  • 0852h - second meal
  • 1152h - third meal
  • sunny this morning so Princess has been playing sunshade; since the sun went behind the Hotel, the chicks have been on their own but Princess and Ivy have been on nearby buildings, overhead on the sign and sitting on the edge of the ledge; chicks mostly napping with periods of very cute butt-scoots around the ledge

Weather Forecast:  very nice day for peregrines - winds are away from the ledge and more sun, less cloud
  • Day - Clear in the morning, then partly cloudy. High of 23C. Breezy. Winds from the West at 10 to 20 km/h.
  • Night - Overcast. Low of 13C. Winds from the WNW at 10 to 15 km/h.

Will try to keep the chicks within camera range but now that they are more active, we may soon need get a wider view ...

My cat & I watched a feeding of these 2 around 9:00 AM. Very full crops! :o They were top heavy after the feeding and could no longer stand up.

Ivy with the chicks (I think it's Ivy -can't see crown and the chicks don't fit that well).

Both chicks were visible about 5:45. May have been the end of breakfast.

I am praying things are O.k. here. Chicks should be old enough now right.
We had this on weekend and

Not quite old enough, just 9 days old and with a bad storm uncovered even a few days older would not be a good thing.  But looking at them just as the light was going down, they looked fine when Ivy left and Princess took over for the night.

Also, before Princess settled in, she went over to fiddle with egg - looks like she rolled it a bit and you can see there is hole in it now ...
