Radisson - 2013 / May

Trying this again. Sorry only one shot of this year's peregrine (the first picture- you can tell because it looks like winter). I was at work and my husband took the photo with his phone.  The other pics are from a few years ago.  Thank you for the tips on posting photos.

From TPC: Have tweaked F2F's code  :)
If you click on the photo you can visit the rest of her gallery.
2013 looks like Ivy, and while I think her 2010 visitor is Princess, I'm going to check her "speckles" just to be sure.

We certainly do have experienced parents in Ivy and (likely) Princess.
All that there is to do is wait and see!

Here's to "Princess", and her experience on the East nestledge.  Keep in mind folks, there have been a lot of successful fledgings from that ledge, including, Trey!  Things happen for a reason and there is no reason to worry about the unknown.  Nature has it's own way of making things work out.  Let's all embrace and acknowledge that, and, enjoy what's to come!

I had a flashback today, looking out the office window at the east-side ledge as the rain poured down.  If only the PFs figured out to stick to the box...  :(

NUTS!!!  I'm just glad that the kids are still eggs, being kept warm by their loyal dad and not-so-bright mom.  (Sorry if it's you, Princess, but this year, Ivy has the brains in the family ::))

Oh yeah! If this IS Princess, can't imagine why she'd go back to the nest ledge when she has such a nice dry alternative. And there's no shade on the nest ledge once the heat hits. Definitely not one of her better moves! Fingers crossed that it all works out well, despite this wintery start.

Poor wee birdie asleep in the sleet/snow on the ledge - think it might be Ivy but its hard to tell because of the way the bird is curled up on the eggs.  Checked the west side cams to see if anyone was hanging out within site and couldn't see anyone - couldn't see anything with the skycam, the rain/sleet has formed an opaque film on the environmental case so will have to wait until a) gravity kicks in if it is soft enough or b) it melts.

The nestbox is dry and snow free at the moment ... sometimes its hard to figure out what a peregrine is thinking ...

Any plans on a Tupperbin this year TPC? - I remember last year and the year before, saying to myself more than once - THANK HEAVENS they're in the West Nest this year, as this downpour would have been REAL trouble on the East ledge. - Never thought they'd go back to that ledge....sigh.... :-[

We are looking at it Ballywing but nothing while the weather is bad and nothing early in incubation so that the birds are fully committed to the eggs they have.  In 2009, we put the tuppernest under the eggs just a couple of days before hatching.  If we do the same this year, I would prefer not to cut it that close but we will see.

Watching that poor wet bird, soaked through, brings back sad memories. Here's hoping the weather favours these peregrines soon.
They will need all of their energy and spirit.

Poor Princess (if it is her) all wet sitting on the eggs.  It is sure raining hard here in Fort Garry.

Wondered if anyone was taking cover in the nestbox with this rain/snow/sleet stuff and no one there right now but there has been a bird in/on the nestbox pretty much all night.  Can't tell who of course though the assumption is that it is Ivy given his preference for the box but it was much too dark to be able to be sure of anything including size.  The only thing I can say is that the bird had a white breast and looked to be male sized.
