We are thinking that we will just let Princess, Ivy and the soon-to-be-chicks be until we need to disturb them to band them and hope that Mother Nature is ambivalent and that Princess continues to do what she does best. Having said that, there is more gravel on the roof (remember we emptied out the tuppernest) and it is deeper in that corner such that there is a decent scrape showing there right now. Princess and Ivy are experienced adults and they chose to forgo the nestbox this year so we are thinking we will just let them do what they do best for the time being. Chicks are due to hatch about the 25th, some light rain is forecast in the next two weeks (most before the hatch date) and temperatures are in the mid to high twenties range around the hatching. The implied part of your question Kinderchick is "could we put a tuppernest in place if we decided we had to" and the answer to that is that yes, we do have plans for that, but it will depend on the availability, weather, equipment, timing etc. so even with a plan, we could still be unable to put it into action.Sorry, not the straight forward answer I think you were hoping for ...

Looks like Ivy on the eggs now.
She certainly looks calm for a recent hatch.Time will tell!
I haven't seen Princess doing the egg shuffle like she does when the eggs are hatching, so maybe not, but what do I know?
