How disappointing.  How quickly the excitement turns to sorrow.  From witnessing a successful fledge to only watch it end in tragedy.

Beau and Jules will continue to guard their domain and circle their sky.  Perhaps next year, we will watch their chicks fly!

Early Monday morning I went by the nest site. I saw Beau on the north-east corner, Jules and Polo on the north-west. I sat and watched them for a bit and saw Polo do some wingersizing which annoyed Jules. She flew to the south-west corner and , that's the picture that is imprinted in my head and will never leave. 3 beautiful falcons standing sentinel over their domain.

Today I saw Beau on the north-east corner, no sign of Jules.

It was a lonely sight.

Yesterday about 10:45 or so I was practicing Tai-Chi and looked out the window and saw a PF flying towards me with a meal in its mouth. It was coming from the direction of Assiniboine Park and Tuxedo Golf Course so it could possibly be the one I saw in the park a week or two ago. It was quite low and I thought it may have been going to land on St. Demitrios Church.

How sad, poor Polo :'(

No fledge watcher could have stopped the car. How awful to witness this tragedy. :(

Keep up the good work, gang :'(, although it must be very hard.

Beau and Jules were both sitting at the NE corner of the building.

I am just so sad about Polo's death. :'( I am so sorry, TPC & Dennis. You have both cared for this little guy so very much. I know that you did all that you could do, to protect him, under the circumstances. My thoughts are with you both. And what a wonderful photo of Polo, Dennis. :) What a beautiful, beautiful bird he was.

Ah, but he had two of the best, rcf.  A hundred fledge-watchers couldn't have prevented this sad event.  TPC has been concerned about this site since Jules chose it to lay the eggs, obviously with good reason, as the sad results of this nest have shown.

Next year, let's hope that these lovebirds make better choices :)

Yes, but two people can't be everywhere at the same time, more people, more area to watch.

Was he wearing a transmitter?  Looked like it in entry 146??

Yes des, he was wearing a transmitter.  You can't mistake the wire protruding from his back.
