got my first look at the chick this morning. Should have taken a screen shot. Ivy appears to have lured Princess away with food now he is trying to cover the eggs and chick. He looked like he was gong to feed the chick at one point but kept changing his mind and eating it himself. I am sure it will all work out, but its frustrating to watch. LOL

Actually DD, that was Princess    Ivy was on the early incubation shift, Princess is the one who brought in the food.  Chick looks to have had a meal earlier, his/her crop was showing.  So it looks like it wasn't "begging" hard enough for more and Princess was the hungrier of the two.  I suspect that that was the first time she has left the box since mid-day yesterday, so a very hungry Princess.

Thanks TPC!   I get such a kick out of Princess going around .........shuffle......go around and never get the chick or eggs where she wants them.   You'd think the eggs would wear so thin that they'd  break!  Little chick sure went for a ride before the shell fell away.  Going to be great to see a white fluff ball in the morning.

Thanks so much, TPC.......great video!    Princess is a great mother and I can't wait to see Ivy in action. I, too, have noticed him tricking her......tooo funny!

TPC...over the years of watching Princess is it typically her that is on the eggs during hatch? I guess I have never paid attention to who was on them.

Typically yes.  And she probably won't get off them for a few days at least ...

Ivy's getting tricky though, this year he has been luring Princess away with food and then he returns to incubate.  A bit more proactive than last year for sure!  Will be interesting to see when he gets to brood his offspring.
