Tracy you mentioned in your blog that one of the reasons for trying to introduce new chicks for P&T to foster was to reinforce their dominance of their territory.  That other non-breeding birds wouldn't be tempted to challenge for the site.  Are there specific reasons to believe that that may happen next year?  Is there something particular you have seen or noticed that may suggest that?  Or is that just supposition and a possibility based on other sites and general nature?

Just curiousity getting the better of me.

Hi winnipeg gal, yes lets wait for Tracy's answer, however this may help while we await her answer.   I do recall that she said that Trey and Princess had not been "defending" there territory.  I think its in the first part of when she was telling us she had a surprise for us.  She was saying that they were scraping, and had not left the area, etc. but were not defending.  I did not really know what that meant at the time.  I thought it just meant they were tired. (LOL) The significance of them "not defending" at other peregrines passing through however now sounds like a darn good reason to try anything to get them to defend, including fostering a family.  To insure they come back next year and also to hopefully lessen the chances of them having to fight for there turf next year. Remember Trey is an old bird by peregrine standards.  How horrid to hear that he died from a battle next spring.  I am learning so much from Tracy and this forum it is unreal.

Well, when I got to the forum, like everyone else I saw the whole thing there with the titles, so knew the end as I was reading.  But it was beautifully written, painted a great picture, and I enjoyed learning what was involved with the attempt.  I'm glad to know the chicks are safely back home.  Thanks very much for making the attempt, and for sharing the story with us.

Well, I guess wishing those disappearing blog entries were a dream is all for naught bev.  I agree I was hoping the same thing.  I would like to say thank you to Tracy and Larry and Dennis for telling us about the great adventure even though it didn't turn out quite the way we all hoped.  I hope you all get the rest you so richly deserve.  Thank you!

Are you all right eagle?  I was wondering cause your first couple posts today are very brief.  It is a dissapointment.  I truly hope you are alright.  :)

I will write, once I've had a chance to absorb etc, what it is I am thinking and feeling and can articulate my thoughts about this adventure. Everyone who has posted so far has echoed and aptly articulated what I would probably have said and don't want to be redundent.

As to the Adventure itself and people suggesting it be published in a magazine, my thoughts would be to have it appear in one of the Bird magazine's :)

Thank you to Tracy and her great team!
What a wonderful story of hope and challenge.
Although there is sadness because Trey & Princess weren't ready to adopt, I am so filled with awe and thankfulness that there are so many people helping the birds and their chicks. Nature has found some terrific helpers in your group.
You've also managed to bring us into the fold.
Our ongoing education in all things falcon, will surely add to the knowledge around us. We can continue to spread the news.
Again, THANK YOU!

I did feel bad when I realized the entry had disappeared adn no one would know what I ahd seen. I shuld have gone back an ddeleted my entry and for that I am sorry guys.
this is the post I amde on the blog site
I am off t shurch now an di wil check in later

Ves, thank-you to all who tried to make this happen..I prayed hard for this to have a great ending but..there is always a reason for things and Trey and Princess probably just need a break. It was probably too late in their cycle and their desire had diminished too much.
It is people like you, Tracy , and your crew , that make it possible for these magnificent birds to thrive.  that we are all invited to share in the experiences is just a bonus.  We all understand that the good of the birds is front most concern and although we like to know everything , we know it is not always possible.  I have learned that over the years.
You will miss the youngsters but I am sure you all need some much deserved rest now.
sleep well an thank-you  all for your efforts Big hugs

Bev..

Well, I woke to a new e-mail on a "new topic" from the forum.  I brought up the blog and forum quickly, but read the "new topic" July 6 directly from my e-mail, and it was Bev's comment on being sad, etc.  So I knew the ending before I read the blog. Don't feel bad bev.  we all would have found  out soon enough, and when you go to the blog now that it is all up there, you see the ending first so everyone this morning will know the ending before they read part 5 and so on.

I feel bad for Tracy and all the "team" that this project didn't work, and now they have gotten attached to more litle ones! Very professional to not have shared this with us, without knowing the end!  I understand completely.  I am sure TPC you are feelling a bit bad about telling us even, especially when you read the posts and everyones excitement and optimism that these chicks were safely with Trey and Princess, and you knew that it hadn't worked.  Its quite alright.  That is RL, and your RL story captured our attention and made us feel good for a few days. i agree with ballywing that this would be a great magazine article. Hope that your local newspaper publishes it  and perhaps CBC will put it on there site.   What an amazing effort you put in to trying to make this adoption work!  Bravo!  :D  All the best.

Well I eagerly opened the forum this morning hoping for some news. Read the last part of the story first - oops. And with a sinking heart, started again at Part 5 to finish what I already knew was not the exact ending we all wanted.  :-\
The story has left me so sad, but completely in awe of Tracy and her team, the dedication, effort, sacrifice & commitment to the cause they so deeply believe in, is beyond words.  :'(
I think we all believed there would be a storybook ending. A new beginning, 'Happily Ever After'.  ;D....
Obviously 'RL' isn't like that........but I believe all the emotions and events of this 2008 season, the sharing of thoughts, hopes & feelings on the forum with new found friends will only make the falcon cause more widely known, more supported & better understood by so many more people. And that is part of what Tracy works towards.
Thanks Tracy, for your wonderfully written account of the 'Big Adventure' - It's a story that should definitely go into a wildlife magazine!!
- Although I know you & your fantastic team must be most disappointed of all, this experience will only add to your expertise and knowledge, and now you can say you've been a Peregrine MOM!! ;D Thanks for everything you've done, and for all the time you spend keeping 'Phanatics' informed. You have created quite the 'family' here and that in itself is quite the accomplishment. Now I shall go & read the whole story again from the start - ponder, digest and accept.  :-\  ....We look forward to news of our 'almost' new kids.  ;D

woke up early this Sunday morning hoping for the rest of the story and of course, a happy ending.... but this isn't TV and sheer will doesn't always work.  :( :(
Tracy and all of your amazing team, thank you for trying and for teaching us so much. So sorry that notwithstanding all of your truly astonishing efforts, it wasn't to be. So sad.

the 'Adventure' was undoubtedly very expensive and I am sure that a number of us would be in a position to send a contribution to help cover the costs. Please tell us how we can do this in a way that helps the most.

What a heart breaking tale, I won't say much more as people are still sleeping and haven't had a chance to read through it yet.  Thank you for taking the time to do what you did.

I wish I was a peregrine when I see the pictures of those 2 little ones..they are just adorable.

I apologize for the delay in posting the rest of the story Gang, it was unintentional.  If I'd known what kind of problem it was (a wee technical problem with the blog database) and that it might prevent me from posting, I would never have started the tale only to stop half-way through.

I'm afraid I spent the day working with my ISP to correct the problem - we had more than a little concern that it would also affect the Forum and that I couldn't allow to happen.  The backups have been failing in the last few days so we would have lost all your posts had the 'base failed.
