Hi Enraptured.
Thanks for your thoughts.  Night feedings and babies just seem to go together, so I do wonder.

Hi bcbird. I'm in BC, too.

I'm not qualified to answer your questions, but I'll let you know what I think, and then if I'm wrong, The Peregrine Chick (Tracy) can correct us both!

I think Trey hangs out close by, either on the Radisson sign or somewhere else very close (if he's not with the chicks, that is, and seeing as it's windy tonight, he won't be!)

I was wondering about feeding at night, too, but as they don't fly at night, I don't think they do feed at night (unless there's a secret stash left during the day for midnight raids on the 'fridge'!)

well, now we'll have to wait and see if TPC corrects us and/or adds more detailed info...

Some newbie questions.  Where does Trey hang out all night while Princess is parenting?
Do any feedings happen at night?

And so another day of survival in the life of 3 special Peregrine chicks comes to a close the nightfall encroaching their neck of the woods.  And with that I am off to bed myself.  Night all.

Wow, that last blow over was a scary one! Heart in my throat for what seemed like minutes!  Thank goodness for that ledge.

Oh lord there she goes again, the wind is really giving Princess a difficult time. Thank goodness for the ledge there in the background or she would have gone over.  Poor Mom. If she could just face the wind a bit more she wouldn't go beak over kettle so much. Everytime she gets that tail in the direction of the wind she's get tossed about. It's getting dark out in the Peg, soon won't be able to see anything. Was hoping the wind would die down with the encroaching darkness of night but no such luck so far. And not liable to by the look of tonight's forecast out there, winds in the 30km range and rain. oh boy.

Is that the remanents of bedtime snack just below Princess?

I too think it was left over.  I saw something sitting there when Trey was on duty.

She is a great Mum, isn't she?!!!   ;D ;D (Okay, and kudos to Trey, too!)

"Curfew!  And because I said so.  I'm the MUM!!!  I don't care if the other kids are still out playing.  If they jumped off a bridge,..."
;D

She does seem more Mother Bear-ish and in charge than I've ever noticed before! I guess with the chicks growing and getting bigger, she has to up her ante too! She seems to be doing a great job! What a good Mum she is!

Yeah she sure was onto the brooding duty some fast after the snack and with that wind no wonder.

I think it may be old remnants! I saw her pecking at it a little while ago, but it was funny with this snack -- it seemed like she went from handing out morsels of food and before the chicks had even gulped it down she was moving forward right onto them! I wondered if she gulped the last bit herself to get rid of it all without leaving the chicks in the wind.

eagle63, I sure hope they DO remember.  This is a really crummy spot they've chosen.  The penthouse is protected from the wind.  It's also much hotter, because it faces SW, so they'd have to deal with that.  But, they would have some shelter from the sun too, being under cover.  And if they do pick it next year.........  we'll have sound!!!!!!!!!!   :D :D :D
