The Peregrine Chick:
It will be alot easier Ballywing when you watch the cute fuzzy chicks in 4 weeks rending the flesh from a meal dropped off by their parents ... ;)
ballywing:
Ahhhh - well there we go! Makes perfect sense, thanks TPC!! ;D - sometimes we need to be reminded that these are wild predatory birds with strong instincts who know what they're doing (except when it comes to choosing East Nestledges over West Penthouses) - as opposed to the sweet fuzzy birdie family we see them as!~ :P
Liz:
And what does that have to do with making dinner? ;) :o
The Peregrine Chick:
--- Quote from: ballywing on June 05, 2009, 19:51 ---So I wonder - in a case like tonight where we expect frost - and the chicks not easy to cover up anymore - how come we never ever see BOTH parents do 'Tent' duty together ???
--- End quote ---
Both adults together means that both adults could be trapped in one place if attacked. You will never see the two of them in such a situation. One bird close by to be the first line of defense, second bird on/at the nest to be the last line of defense.
