And it's Trey to the rescue with some real food (I think)! No more messing around with that dratted wing.

Poor chick isn't making much progress with that wing -- but you've got to give him points for perserverance!

mmmmmm, leftovers! Poor chick is trying so hard to hold onto the food with its foot.
It won't be long before they are able to feed themselves.

So I'm kind of wondering... how much of a concern are those not-so-little chick beaks and feet to the banding crew? And how have the chicks of previous years reacted to the process?
Umm, they're little enough that our courageous crew isn't worried - TPC knows what she's doing!  The dive-bombing parents, on the other hand...
( ??? Someone else take a stab at it.  I'm assuming it was a BOT)

If the storm hits, will P or T help cover the chicks?

They look so adorable, all awake, facing the same direction

Just starting supper but  saw that TPC is here,
I said it earlier TPC but I want you to know the respect I have for you and all that you do. You did this with care and compassion , and it showed. You were so organized and it all went like clockwork. Kudoos to you.
and thank-you to the guys that went up with you and the the person who did the banding. I have posted the slideshows on other forums for all to see.
Truly remarkable.
And Denis, looking forward to al your picutres
BCCS- I think i was the only one that did not see you. My computer froze.  Picutres anyone.
Will be back

Actually this weather system is coming directly from the south and moving northward.  It's too hard and early to tell whether Winnipeg will get hit with a severe or non-severe storms....Daytime heat is not at it's peak anymore and the sun is going down....

So I'm kind of wondering... how much of a concern are those not-so-little chick beaks and feet to the banding crew? And how have the chicks of previous years reacted to the process?

They react the same way, with varying degrees of aggression of course - aaack! ... what are you? ... why are you here? ... what are you doing? ... Mummy? ... Daddy? ... ooh, that tickles! ... not sure I like that rivet gun ... oooh, pretties ... finally I'm free of that bucket! .... where'd they go? .... naptime ....

Seriously, they are a wee bit pissed but it doesn't take long to band them so they are back in familiar surroundings quickly and Mom & Dad usually end up in the box/ledge not long after we leave.  And the chicks return to their usual coma state.

And I have smallish hands so I generally just get poked a bit by the talons and occasionally bitten - none of it hurts much, or maybe I'm just used to it.  I know the guys tend to bleed alot when they get caught, but I think that's more a case of larger hands than anything else.
