If the storm hits, will P or T help cover the chicks?

Probably not, they are big enough to keep themselves out of trouble and they have a second coat of downy white feathers so they should be able to get wet without difficulty.  But you can never tell what the parents might do ... Princess has been pretty protective this year, more than usual, so ....

Thanks, Tracy! After the day you've had, I'm impressed that you're able to put coherent sentences together. And knowing that there really isn't an answer is sometimes the best answer -- mysteries are good.

I was wondering about something, hope one of you long-time watchers may know the answer. I've been watching the chicks preen since banding and none of them seems to be "picking at" his/her bands. To me, this is odd because most critters seem ultra-sensitive to anything foreign on them (for eg., a ribbon around a kitten's neck -- certainly not the same, but the best example I can think of right now). Are the chicks' legs less sensitive, or what?

Its a good question.  The bands aren't snug around their ankles, they spin around.  And most chicks and adults don't pay much, if any, attention to them.  They clean around them when they preen as though they are just another body part.  I've always wondered if having two means they are balanced and therefore don't notice them as much, but that is just speculation I'm afraid.

Doesn't really answer your questions, but doesn't seem to be a hard and fast answer ...

And they're gone again -- off to collapse into sleep again, I'm sure -- full and content, I hope. After all, they've had a big day!

yeah, I know.  but she said that may happen, but that if one of her brothers stays and hangs out it may not.

so, let's hope the two that hang out together are brother and sister, and the loner is the other brother.  :)

When the peregrine nested here last in 2006, there were two boys, one girl then too (The Little Daredevil, Bandit & Radisson) and she hung out with her brothers and as we know has done very well for herself ...  ;D
