Since Bccs won't be able to give us air quality reports today, I drove downtown and stopped for a while on my way to work. Looked and looked and looked, but no sign of our falcon family -- maybe they're going to hide out in the shade again today.  :(

Thank you Allikat!  Checked out that website but the best picture of the "bird/falcon" that I saw fly over my head looked like Lunge Posted July 13/09 on the Ohio site.  The underside of the one that flew over was that colorful on the underside and definitely a Brownish color.  Hope it comes back to visit again!  It was such a surprise to see and I was talking with my family at the time so I didn't get a good chance to really mentally snap the picture in my mind.  It also was not flying very high.

I was out in my drive way here in Charleswood..........saw what looked like a juvie perhaps fly over.........would they come this far in the city.  Last Thursday I also saw a large bird with greyish back and whitish front at Assiniboine park sitting on a high branch. Came and went a few times and then disappeared.  I am afraid I am not very good at knowing a merlin from a peregrine.  Are the juvies as large as the parents now?  Are the peregrines slightly smaller than a crow or about the same size.  I have more questions than anything else!!!!!  Need some help!

The Assiniboine park "bird" seemed to be enjoying Ron Paley's big band as it sat there for quite some time!

Our falcons find shade in the heat so I am sure yours are tucked in enjoying a bit of a Breeze.

thanks for the checks. :-*

It will help.  I find the heat is much more bearable when there is a wind.  Hope the family has found a shady, breezy nook to hang out in.

WSW 13 k -- not terribly brisk, but at least it's a bit of a breeze.

Is there at least a breeze there?  We are at 30 with the humidex but have a good wind going on.  That helps.

So you're thinking that maybe they've found a shady spot to get out of the heat? That would make sense.

Aha! A whole new angle, a whole new technique of messin' with her mind . . . diabolical!   :o
;D ;D ;D   ( the hoe ain't gonna know what hit her )
BOT, I'm thinking that maybe the falcons are finding it a little warm today. The chicks aren't used to warm weather.
