Well, ya all know me well enough to appreciate how much I hate leaving my office to go look for birdies. That's me, hardworking and dedicated. ;D

I like your dedication Bccs!   For the birdies that is!  Amazing how we all look forward to your Air Quality checks.

Maybe these birds are smarter than we are -- "stinkin' hot and humid" outside and they're nowhere to be seen -- but we're out there looking for them! Maybe we two-legged critters aren't quite as smart as we think?  ::)

But, BCCS, we all appreciate the sacrifices you make to keep us informed!  :-*

Air quality check, birdies have flown the coop, no sign of them. They've been hanging around the west side a lot more, so I'll try and get out to the street once a day.
Stinkin hot and humid out there guys. :P

Honestly, what would we do without you bccs? Your ongoing comments and air checks are so helpful.

Thank you to all who contribute.  :-*

That is so cool!  Glad you all got to see them last night.  My golden girl here is Brandon is the same way.  You can hear her over everything when she is "singing".

Have a terrific day everyone!!!!

Thursday air quality check. Just finished raining, it's dark out there, so we'll likely get more. No falcons this am, but yesterday, as Allikat and I were walking to Tavern United, we saw four of them. All three kids and Trey. They put on a wonderful flying show, swooping, playing tag, catching thermals and of course, yelling from our girl. Now this was at 5:00 pm, lots and lots of traffic around and we could hear her over all that noise. Gives you all an idea of how loud her "singing" is. ;D

Perhaps this might help to ID your bird ???
Merlin http://www.pbase.com/photosbydennis/merlin
Coopers Hawk http://www.pbase.com/photosbydennis/coopers_hawk
Swainson http://www.pbase.com/photosbydennis/swainson_hawks
Let me know if this helped ???

Cheers !
...actually, i was taking my jog in elmsood cemetary about 1 1/2 weeks ago, and there were some sort of raptors in the trees in one area, all making quite a fuss;  I didn't think I'd ever be able to i.d. them, but now i think they were coopers, thanks to your photos, and also by the site  www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Coopers_Hawk/id  where you can also play some of their calls...it was amazing how quiet all the other birds in the cemetary were, including the resident crows, who are usually very noisy - they were all staying put in a completely different corner of the grounds, not making a peep...

No wonder the birdies are hiding out -- still 9 degrees to go before reaching the forecasted high! Hot now, but hotter ahead . . . ah yes, shade, a breeze . . . And they're forecasting a high of 19 for Saturday -- only in Manitoba!  :P
