Can't you just install a giant firefighter bounce blanket across the length of the street, just above the cars?  ;)

Question for TPC - I can't remember this. If a chick fledges and lands on a ledge or something lower down and can't figure out how to get back up to the nest ledge, do the parents feed it? Or does it just have to figure it out and that's how they learn?

No fear the chicks will be fed wherever they happen to be until they are able to hunt on their own.  And they will hang out around the Hotel after fledging, even if they don't go back to the nestledge because they know that is were food is.  As they get better at flying and hunting they will go away for longer and longer periods until such time as they just don't come back to the Hotel ....

All 3 chicks with their backs to the camera - it's really easy to tell the boys from the girl when they show us that pose.

So do we start to wrap the office towers with bubble-wrap this weekend? ;)

Looking forward to hearing more details.

Is there a place in the blog for how the 2006 hatchlings progressed?
Did they land on the street or on window ledges?
I don't think so.  We know Hurricane was in Grand Forks in the spring (April, I think) but have heard nothing about him since then, or about his brother and sister at all.
As I recall, at least one was rescued by a bus driver from the middle of Portage Avenue in the early hours of the morning.  I don't remember about the other two.

One of the chicks can sure see everything now sitting on the drain/grate.  So cute to see!

Heck, it's the only "toy" they have except for a few dried bones.

If I am remembering correctly last year at Elk River, didn't the female there do the same thing when food was brought in.  She would squawk, grab it and run to a corner and become very aggressive.  It was so cute to watch.

So maybe it is a girl thing with falcons.   :D

eh, could just be a girl thing with food and brothers...

thanks for the close up!

Awww, they're sitting around the drain lid as if at the table, just waiting for dinner to be served.

wow, there was nothing subtle in how sis took away that snack that Trey brought!  scurried off to the north corner while her brithers wondered what the heck had just happened!

so glad I get to see the chick on the drain this time!

(BigBird, we're guessing which is which unless we're TPC - guessing based on size (female larger) and on the males having more dark feathers come in faster than the female...  I need to be able to see other chicks better to make a guess though...)

I guess that is a boy on the drain lid because more dark feathers show compared to the comatose one down below, and the comatose one also looks a little bigger to me.
