I hear ya bccs...talk about clean, clean and clean some more...too bad the garden tour was cancelled.

The two boys look pretty darn cute on the vent cover.

All in all, a crappy day!

still two boys on the vent and girl in the north corner, and still sodden and sleeping...

rainy days are good for naps, but not usually out in the rain.   poor kids.   :-\

... shortly after this the boys are moving around a bit on the drain cap, eyes open and some shaking of feathers and perhaps a bit of a chat.  but still sodden...

Rain is phishing (as my grandmother used to say) down now but the wind seems to not be an issue for the kids right now - maybe from the west now so the Hotel is blocking ...

Two up on the vent (the little boys), our lone little girl in the north corner.  Everyone seems to be trying to sleep - eyes closed everywhere and no extraneous movement.

Poor wee sodden chicklets ...  :'(

The down doesn't so much keep the rain off as keep the warmth in - think down parka, with the flight feathers being the outer nylon shell of the jacket.  The chicks still have alot of natal down (a second downy layer that comes off as the flight feathers come in) but so far they are smart and staying out of the wind and up against the wall they don't get as wet as other places on the nestledge.

Thanks for the response.

Camera has focuised again onthe chicks.  Now two on the vent.  Rain still falling, maybe momma should tell the kiuds to come in out of the rain lol.  Nice to see them up running around

3 big chicks, hunkered down all together, faceplant to the wall, attempting to keep warm and dry! As it says in the book entitled, All I Really Need to Know, I  Learned in Kindergarten by Robert Fulghum: "No matter old you are, when you go out into the world, it's best to hold hands (wings?) and stick together!" ;)

just came back from downtown Winnipeg and the wind was blowing lots and the rain was much gentler but still coming down.  Hoping for the nest that the weather will break, mist okay but please no more wind.

The chicks are now all huddled together on the wall very wet but appear okay.

Does the down also keep the rain off their little bodies?

Thansk you to those who welcomed me as a hatchling.
;D...congratulations helen b from the east coast
