Hi Cara & gemcity. So glad you have joined us "posters". Yes, I think the parents are talking to the chicks. Apparently, they can hear them peeping inside the eggs, when they're close to hatching! ;D I only learned this recently.

Yup, it was a shift change, but now she's gone....
Although I didn't see her, I am glad to hear that Princess came back for awhile, Pam. I was beginning to worry about her too. I wonder why she's leaving Ivy to do most of the incubating lately? ??? I don't think she let Trey do as much incubating. Or did she? :-\

Going to be HOT again tomorrow, hopefully the chicks will wait a bit, supposed to cool down to 25 degrees on Friday!  ::)

I have been "watching" for over a half hour. When I first logged on, there was a lot of movement and an egg exposed. This lasted for over ten minutes. During this time, the sitting falcon was quite active and often looking at one egg in particular. If it happens today, Happy Mother's/Father's Day.

:o I have been watching since my post and now I am thinking that by the way the sitting (proud) parent has been huffing and puffing the first chick will present him/herself by tomorrow, May 20th.

Hi everyone...new to this for the year. My goodness, every year it gets to be more involved...guess that is a good sign of GREAT support.  I have been watching it almost seems like both 'mom and dad' are looking at the eggs and calling the young ones out...so sweet!!

Ok phew, thanks Pam.  Was worried I was mistaken but at least we know she is okay.  :)

And she's back...all is well  :-*

Either Ivy has puffed himself up really big or that's Princess with her wings in the air-conditioning stance: shoulders dropped, wings out to let the air circulate. The head is facing the camera so it's hard to judge the height of the body in relation to the cement wall in the background, under the sky.

P.S. I saw him scoot down. It does look like poor Ivy is still stifling in that heat. Where can Princess be ??? ??? ???

Poor bird!  I feel sorry for him. But I imagine in this weather that they can no more leave the eggs without some shade than they could in the cold without keeping them warm.

At times it looks like he's pecking at the eggs....
