There IS a lot of shuffling going on. But I only can see the eggs up front. Is the chick now at the rear?

There is definitely something happening -- she just got up and shuffled thing again -- twice in a few minutes.

Maybe.  LouLouBelle saw an egg moving.  I didn't see anything.  But the timing is right and she probably is - I hope! ;D  She sure looks like it now!

You are probably right.  Interesting!
It's a good thing she's not in labour, or he might completely block our view for total privacy for the little Mrs.   :D

Sometimes when dad sits on our webcam his side feathers- the petticoat part- graze the lens and that's what it looks like...that's why I assumed it was feathers and maybe dad nearby awaiting a hatch.

hopefully I'll get another chance to see before nightfall but I'm betting there will be a fuzzy little one at sunrise!

about a half hour ago, parent bird left and it wasn't a shift change, and I saw a hole chipped in one egg and movement inside. although the wind is shaking the cam a bit, that egg moved independently. definitely the beginning folks!

Another shift change at Elk River.  And still no signs that a hatch is near. Sigh  :D

Yep just saw parent take off...she's waiting until later because she knows we all had errands and things to take of today and didn't want to miss any hatches ;)

Hatching can take awhile that is for sure.  Too long however and the chick gets exhausted and doesn't make it out.  She's and experienced mom so I'm sure she will "help" if needed.  Haven't seen it myself but there are some reports of females that will give an egg taking awhile to hatch a bit of a roll to help the process along.  I assume its intentional ...

as I recall, from first pip to hatch can take quite a while 24 hours or more?  And once they pip they can be heard so the parents definitely would know what was going on.

I think that is mom - if these are the same pair as last year she has speckles higher up on her chest and his is more white.  But I didn't see the shift change so didn't see relative sizes.
