I think it has been about 10 hours now since the 1st chick hatched? Has the chick had a feeding yet? ???

TPC, has there ever been a time in the past when a parent hasn't brought a meal? How long can a chick survive without being fed? Smiley, get it in gear.  >:(

Actually at 1543h Smiley did turn up on the edge of the box with a meal and he hopped into the box but she wasn't getting off to get it from him (which she did during incubation) so he flew off again ... she's an experienced female, got to believe she knows what she is doing, however ...  :-\

1448h - okay, now Smiley needs to bring home the bacon/pigeon.  Either that or take over for Princess again so she can go kill something ...

Had a look around with the skycam and the spycam and couldn't see Princess in any of her usual spots, but that's not really very unusual, she often sits where we can't see her with the cameras - the towers on top of the building is one of her favourite spots for example ...

He's getting better - he went out to have a little look around and to pick on some pebbles but now he's back.  Guy has a hard time staying on the eggs/chicks past a certain length of time - fortunately, the hardwiring seems to be kicking in and overcoming his natural inclination to wander off.

The air temperature is warm so no worries for the chick if left uncovered for short periods of time.  When the sun comes around however, he or she better keep their butts on the kid to keep him/her cool, it is a warm sunny day today!

Hope Smiley isn't such a newbie that he doesn't know what his role is - I'm sure Princess will whip him into shape real quick!  ;D

And no, it hasn't been a particularly long time between hatch and first meal  :)

Thank you for telling us that! It sounds like others might be as anxious as I am about the (non)feeding.

No meal yet, but Princess is off causing chaos somewhere no doubt ... likely she'll return with a meal.

Very interesting to see Smiley when he first viewed the first chick.

"What is this thing???   I think I'll tap it on the head a few times to see what happens, then I'll try to tuck it underneath to keep it warm."
