She has hopped down on the roof, looks like there is the remains of a meal from last night or this morning there ...

Is that Hillary?? - Thanks TPC, LOVE that we can see this view!!  ;D  :-*

I can see the bird with two cams and from overhead she looks much larger - so yes, that is Hillary ... and so long as they stay close, the ledge cam can see them

By size, Hillary is over on the Paris Building ... so if she was the one who misjudged the landing at the Delta Hotel, then the answer is "she's fine".  If it was Tenzing, considering he's been flying for a week and tried to climb the wall back onto the nestledge, I'd be surprised if he ran into any trouble at all ... :)

I walked around the Delta about half an hour ago and didn't see anybirdy down. Did see someone, looked like a chick, flying overhead and making lots of racket as well. Bringing binoculars tomorrow for sure. Good view from 19th floor of the BDC building!!

These two chicks seem particularly fond of the Convention Centre area for some reason.  Perhaps this is one of Ivy's back up food cache locations and Tenzing followed him to it so they know there if food nearby or maybe they just like the variety of buildings in the area ...

Interesting thoughts TPC, and thank you for the updates closet birder.

Well it sure was nice to see her for a bit - hope others come back for a visit too!   :-\ - I remember a few years ago, all the kiddies came back every night to that (dang)  :P ledge - it was great!  ;D

That was Ty, Tupper & Vesper.  McDermot and the kids last year were the same on the west side last year ...  :)

I'm at max zoom, but I think perhaps one of the chicks just made a pit stop on the roof of the Taylor McCaffrey building (near the Convention Centre) ...

Hmmmm, someone in the nestledge now.

One of the adults - Princess by the wingspan as I can't see the back of her head.  Not sure what she is trying to keep shaded  ::)  Might be that the chicks are nearby and if she has to sit in the sun this is where she wants to do it and how she wants to do it ...

I'm going to have a buzz around with the west-side skycam and the east-side spycam to see what/who I can see where ...

Haven't had any reports via email or phone about a downed bird which is a good sign.  Now from the reports, the birds wasn't flying fast and both our birds have been flying high and low for the last few days which means they have figured out how to use their wings.

Running up and down parallel to the sides of all buildings are layers of air, some going up, some going down, its how birds manage to come in low and glide up to the top of buildings to perch - part of that is wing control, part of it is using the lift from the upward moving layers of air.  Chicks have to figure out how to do this and soft landings (no injuries) are most often the result of not catching the right uplift.  As often as not, because the chicks have already reduced speed as they are coming in to land, they have time slide down a bit then they change direction and recover and land elsewhere and try again either immediately or after awhile.  All part of the learning-how-to-fly process.  Today winds are pretty light and there are lots of buildings around the Delta Hotel for a bird with training-wings to land on.

Upshot is,
  • If chick is injured, I will get a report about it, have no fear.
  • If chick isn't injured, it should have already started to work its way up and away again.
