Oh, I think Mrs Beau is considering not only a change in location but a change in "beaus" ... looks like the male she was with could be Ivy!! I've got Dennis taking a look at the fuzzy image I manage to catch of his band number while he was running out of the nestbox so we'll see what he says before I confirm the male's identity. If Princess comes home and Jules is still here it will not be a happy occasion. Jules is a "nands-on" kind of bird as is Princess ...
Just as a reminder, Jules' first mate was Ivy - they were unsuccessful (yes, they tried to nest "there") but he was her first "beau" so to speak.
Is this usual? Well, when birds have left sites (and mates) it has been to move in downtown. T-Rex left Burnsie his mate of a few years to take over the Radisson with Madame with whom he had a summer fling the year after he hatched. Holly took up with Keener-Screech then welcomed Zeus back after he spent the year "batching" it. Trey spent two years in Winnipeg waiting for an opportunity to move in at the Hotel when he could, and it worked and he did. And most recently, Ivy ditched Jules when he moved downtown to the Radisson and Princess.
If she did take over downtown, what would that mean for Beau? Oh, I don't think he would have any problem finding a lady friend, he's a very good-looking peregrine, older and experienced - exactly what any lady peregrine would be looking for.
But let us not get ahead of ourselves ...
