They didn't show up until April 5th last year, so I imagine it won't be much different this year.  ;)

I had a chauffeured ride to Brandon today.  I only saw pigeons flying around the McKenzie building, no peregrines yet.  I did see two hawks and an immature bald eagle on the way home, so that is promising.   :)

We have birds at the Radisson and West Winnipeg sites, so if it was a merlin RCF, it will be peregrines very shortly!!!

Saw what looked like a peregrine by the Brandon General Hospital this afternoon , but it could have been a merlin.  :-\  It was definitely one or the other tho!!   :)

As of 0930 today only pigeons at Mckenzies and workmen on the tower, they have put enough receivers and/or transmitters on the Communications tower to accomodate a family of a dozen or more Peregrines. ;D

We will be coming out to install the cameras but I'm not sure of the date yet.  Adding a box cam, a "broom stick" perch and perhaps another inch along the north and east edges will mean a trip up the ladder so hopefully the weather will cooperate - if it doesn't, we'll have to see about another trip later this month.

We've had a couple of ravens hanging out at the Radisson nestbox from time to time this winter too ... they've been helping out with the nestbox housekeeping ;)

I guess the nestbox here will be not be needing any cleaning out by the Ravens.  ;)  Nobody has used it yet for nesting, although I have seen pigeons in it off and on all winter.  ::)

Tracy, speaking of the nest box, when do you suppose you will be coming to Brandon to put the edging and perch bar on to make it complete?  It just looks a bit naked the way it is.  ;)

You never really know how many pigeons are around until they are flying willy-nilly to get away from the big scary birds. I have seen a couple of Ravens hanging around the McKenzie building for the last few weeks, they have been perching on the top of the clock tower.

These pigeons will soon have to find somewhere else to roost.  ;D

Thought I might as well start this thread as the birds will be home soon enough ...
Is this thread for this year (2012) or is it for last year?  ???  ???

For this year RCF - I was cleaning up the board and typed in the wrong year ... all corrected now ...  ;)
