Yes, I am pretty sure she laid the third egg around 9:40pm last night. It was also too dark to see at that time............but definitely three.

Hopeful in the peg.

Different colored egg  ???

A few weeks ago, I was reading somewhere on one of the Scotland websites, either Huntly or Falls of Clyde, that some of the eggs are different colours because when the female lays several eggs, the pigment becomes increasingly lighter with each new egg that is laid. I had not heard about this before and have been meaning to ask you about this, TPC. Is this really a natural occurence or is it simply just as you have said? ???

...The "darker" egg is still wet - like a pebble in a stream.

Eggs get lighter as they get older, ie, days after being laid.  There can/are also differences between the eggs, some are lighter than others, some will have more pronounced markings which can make them look darker overall.  If you are asking if the last eggs laid are always lighter than the first eggs, nope, each clutch of eggs is different and every year is different.  Its like a painter painting the same picture over and over again, they don't all look the same :)

Sorry folks, still just two eggs in the nestbox as of 1015h today.  Princess took a week to lay all her eggs and Hurricane is still on her regular schedule and hasn't started incubating yet, so it looks like more eggs are on the way ... maybe today ...

I was at the parkade this morning at 11am.  Brooklyn was perched on the east ledge of the nest box preening and Hurricane was on the green pole of the communications tower , which is one of her favorite spots.  I could tell after seeing Brooklyn fly over to Hurricane on the pole that there are going to be more eggs.  :-X ;D   I checked on them after lunch and Brooklyn was again perched on the nest box and Hurricane was napping on the east light of the clock tower.

Different colored egg  ???

No,maybe just new?? ;)

The "darker" egg is still wet - like a pebble in a stream.  The two of them look alike now.  And yes, as of 0940h this morning there are still just two and despite hanging out with the eggs most of yesterday, neither Hurricane nor Brooklyn have been at the nestsite much so far today.  Nice and sunny in Brandon and the eggs are "tanning" in the morning sun.

Gorgeous picture of the two eggs here.  I like it when they look different, so you can keep track of which one is which.   ;)
