I'm not giving up hope yet! I predict we'll see them at... 9:45pm!    ;) ;D

Yep sometime around there.  Got my computer screen on the nestbox.  I think we may see two of the chick-teens.  The same ones that came back last eve. for the night.  :D   It is so nice to see them together before they are off on their own.

Very hot and humid here in NWOntario.  Very heavy with smoke from forest fires.  I have had no birds at my feeders until this evening.  Winds had shifted around from the south and cleared out the smoke.  Hope we get rain tonight.

Humidex earlier was 47c or 117 f. Baked potato is an apt description.

Temp has "dropped to 30"!!  "Humidex of 42"!!  Yikes :o :o  No wonder there's not a birdie in sight.

I'm thinking we probably won't see the chicks tonight.  :(

I just came and, although the temp has dropped to 30 (humidex 42), it still feels like a bake oven -- definitely like a potato in foil on the BBQ! Funny, though, I wish I'd never thought of it quite like that. Thanks a bunch, TPC!

Yes TPC, is is most stupidly hot here.
I walked home from work at 2pm, a mere 5 blocks, and had to stop 3 times to wipe my face, as the perspiration from my head was running into my eyes.
I'm so grateful that I have an indoor job, I can't imagine what the police, firemen and rescue workers are going through right now.
Lots of lightning in the north west this morning, but the wind pushed it away.   sigh
Rain would be great.

How are the birdies? Any sight of them?

For those of you watching/reading from afar ... it is currently 34C but it feels like 46C with the humidex.  Anyone from southern Ontario will smile and easily recognize that this means it feels like being a potato wrapped in tin foil and forgotten on the BBQ while everyone else is sitting under the deck, sipping a beer and eating potato salad.

Even though we continue to have tons-o-water here in southern Manitoba, don't know that I know of anyone who isn't praying (or dancing) for rain ...

(we're mellllltttttiiiinnnngggg)

Tracy;
Thanks for your update on the CBC web cam page. I was wondering if all 3 chicks were well, having only seen 2 of them together. Thanks for all of your work. It has been fascinating watching the chicks a learning a little bit about these birds.

You are welcome Lifo.
Being a member here now as well, you can see that I don't always get back to post at CBC quite so quickly as I would like, or as often as the CBC posters would like

Off they go right on schedule. :'(

You could set your clock by their morning take off! Play safe and try to stay cool. ::) ::)

Darn! >:( My husband turned the computer on around 5:30 this morning and I called out from bed for him to check to see if the birds were still there. By the time he did check, about 10 mins. later, they were gone. ::) Sure hope they lay low today. It's going to be a scorcher. :P
