My first post as I sit at work and watch one of the poor little guys try to dislodge what looks like a feather stuck in his throat!  He's not having much luck!  I just want to reach into the screen and pull it out for him (or her).  Will Mom or Dad come and help or do these things just have a way of working themselves out?
So glad to have you join in the conversation, Leana. Not sure, but I think that the chick with the feather stuck in it's throat will eventually work it out. If it does get swallowed, I think that it will be coughed up at a later time, much like a cat who coughs up a fur ball after a grooming session. If I am wrong about this, TPC is the one to ask. ;)

Well, I watched the struggles for quite some time (sneaking peeks at the cam while working).  Not sure if the feather got dislodged or was swallowed.  He/she was trying to do both but I missed the final outcome.  Of course, this was the baby with it's back to the camera so said stuck feather could still be in place!  How traumatizing for the poor thing... or maybe more so for the viewers?  Sure seemed like it was crying out to its siblings "Help me get this thing out!" :-[

One just flew away from the  ledge a minute ago. Yesterday you could see ma sitting in the sun..I sure miss not being able to watch..

Looks like the "Royals" are on the cool side today as they are all huddled together for warmth.

Meal time - will find the view that gives you all the best view ...

Watching them not rush Princess for food looks like they are getting fed well and often.  These two feed their chicks better than pretty much any/every other pair we've had I think.

So that's why they're growing so quickly! :)

They do make a great pair, don't they :D

Since all the kids are lined up against the back wall and sunlight isn't a problem, I've switched the view as its a bit brighter ...

Impressive double feeding by both Princess and Ivy! I have to totally agree on the awe of Mother Nature. My whole class got to see the two doting parents feed the family - awesome!!!

I am blown away by mother nature every year. . . . . . .anyone else or is it just me?

You're definitely not alone, ShoeChick. I too watch the whole process with amazement and awe. . . from egg to white ball of fluff to beautiful, independent fledglings. I'm very grateful for the opportunity to see the story unfold.

I must say that I am simply stunned when I watch the chicks every day; unreal how much they grow from day to day - almost right in front of our eyes!  Just scroll back and look at the screen shots - even from just a day or two ago and you can see major growth.  Also quite impressive how much stronger they are from day to day.

The chicks seem to have done a lot of "decorating" in the one corner - those little graffiti artists! I guess we will be seeing the poop art move across the wall as they get more mobile.
