Fyfe died this morning folks - he collided with a building and died on impact.  He died instantly.
OMG! I am in absolute shock!!! :o And very sad. :'( I am so very sorry to hear this, TPC. Makes me realize what a gift it was to spend the day with him yesterday. But still, I can hardly believe it. So sad. :'( :'(

What a shock.  I'm so sad.  So glad that we got to spend time with Fyfe yesterday and that Dennis took so many pictures of our awesome boy.

I'm so sad to hear about Fyfe passing away. It's so very hard when you watch these chicks grow up. I'm so glad Dennis got some beautiful pictures of our Fyfe.
Be free sweet boy.  :'(  :'(

Oh, what sad news, Tracy. Our birds face so many perils, and I guess it's even more dangerous for them in these early days of learning how to fly. Poor little Fyfe. With luck, you'll soon be able to confirm that Carson is okay, and we'll all keep our eyes on Beatrix and Cade.

OMG, sitting at my desk in total shock.  Did not expect to receive such devastating news.  How terribly sad.   :'( :'(  My heart goes out to all of you who are so much closer than I am to these beautiful birds.  Oh how very very sad...

Oh no. I'm stunned. Brings home just how fragile and precarious life is for wildlife, and us too I suppose.

I am so saddened to hear of Fyfe's death. My deepest condolences to Tracy, Dennis and everyone who have been following these babies so faithfully.  I so appreciate being able to read all of your posts - sharing your joy, hopes, and now your sorrow.    :'(

No sign of Carson, though I may well have seen him on the wing with one of the adults when I went to collect Fyfe.
I have confirmed that Beatrix and Cade are still in the nestbox this morning.

Thanks Carmen & (Mr Carmen) and Dennis.

No one fledged during the time I was there - around 5 to around 7 am.  Was concerned at first when i only saw one, but soon saw the second.  A bit of wingersizing going on. 5 minute downpour around 5:30 - but sunny otherwise.  Princess, I think, was always on the 2nd s of Radisson, under the nest.  No sign of Ivy on the Manitoba hydro sign on the east.
Went to look for Fife - no sign of him at all there or from what I could see of neighbouring rooftops.  Looked about for Ivy but no sign in the 2 hours I was there. Which really doesn''t mean either of them were'nt nearby what with all the roof tops and all the stuff on them.
Nice downtown 'tho.

Hopefully today we will learn the locations of Carson and Fyfe. It would be great if they have reconnected and are safe.

I'm at home and just spoke with des on the phone and she has been downtown looking for chicks since about 5:00 AM. She reported that she could not spot Fyfe on the lower roof where he was all day yesterday. She looked around, but no sign of either bird. I imagine she''l post more details when she returns home.

I left my computer for a few minutes and now both birds are in view. Cade wingersizing and chewing on some leftovers. Was he there in the nest out of sight all this time or did he return? ??? What I saw earlier was probably a food drop.

:o I hope I am wrong, but I was watching a bird on the edge, thinking Cade, however, just brought screen back up and saw a bird fly/fledge. 0450h. Just starting to get light out. I only see Beatrix inside the nestbox peering over the ledge. Now sitting on the edge of the nest.  ::) Cade was very vocal just before.

If I was right about a fledge, my guess was for today July 4th, Independence in the U.S.

Loved those photos Dennis ( as always).  The second one reminds me of a ski jumper with his arms held back with his knees bent and just starting out down that long jumping slope!  Pretty cute at any rate.  Sure wish the other son would show up.
