Forecast is for light rain on and off today.  Just heard the thunder roll through at a distance and now the wind is knocking the rain off all the vegetation. Environment Canada & the Weather Network both agree that the wind is from the west right now and it is suppose to diminish near noon and become light by late this afternoon.  Its suppose to pick up again this evening from the northwest and we are suppose to get light snow this evening  (::) figures) and the wind drops again as we get closer to midnight.  Hight 14c/Low 8c this afternoon.

Tomorrow sunny with cloudy periods, light-ish/diminishing winds from the northwest and no rain forecasted so far.  High 4c/Low -6c

Friday (at this stage of the game) cloudy with 70% chance of showers.  High 8c/Low 2c

0855 hrs (local) - hydro outage last night took down lots of internet connections last night.  Just managed to get myself back online and checked the birds and all is well.  We have one unhappily wet adult and the gravel is wet but the Hotel is blocking the wind and most of the driven rain.

Taken less than 5 minutes ago ... can't tell who it is, but I suspect Trey from the size ...
At this moment, the rain has stopped in my neighbourhood and I'm about 10 minutes by car/20 seconds by peregrine away from the Hotel.

Oh, the wind has definitely turned!  It's from the east or NE -- it's blowing in my livingroom window like crazy.  You know the east wind is strong when downtown you can smell the meat packing plants.

 ;D ;D ;D That's not the packers you smell, it's Transcona !  ;D ;D ;D

Shouldn't laugh, but I couldn't help myself. ;D

this requires an entirely new recipe thread me thinks.....  :o
Sound like a job for Hannibal Lecter -  Silence of the Lambs     - some fava beans with a nice chianti

except it would be more like 'screams of the sea-gulls, with french fries and coke'

Oh, But loriann, the chianti and fava beans are so much healthier than than fries and coke. LOL
You all are such a great way to start my day.  Thanks for making me laugh yet again.

I did not realize this was not very high up, or is it. I can see people
Not as high up as we'd like!!!! - I think it's about 12 floors up.. ???... while the WEST NEST is about 30 stories.

I can't comment on that because I don't know where Transcona is, but I do know that some people I work with live there.   ;)

LOL Liz, know and do not love that odour. Almost as bad as the sugar beets in the fall that smell like rancid puffed wheat.
I love the smell of the sugar beets when the air is cold and crisp.  I guess that's from growing up in St. V - I'm used to it.

Oh heck - does that mean people in St. B are used to the packers?!  Interesting what one can get used to!

Downtown today in the afternoon smelled like fire smoke. Didn't see any flames but something was going on somewhere.
