That's what I was thinking too, Bunny, and now all are out of view.

I think during the close up their was a feeding missed on camera.  As there was only one chick in the shot showing and only it's bum.  Then the 2 other chicks came back into the camera shot and the chick with only the bum showing is now eatting some left overs.  Not sure though just what I am thinking. :)

All three were pancaked on the far corner behind the vent.  Suddenly, all awake and toddling down off screen.  Must have been a parent arrive with food.  Big Sis (I don't really know, just seemed the biggest one) was back in view with Trey who carried a little something.  Sis grabbed, Dad let it go and stood on the ledge at the far corner.  She worked and worked, barely visible on the screen, at whatever it was, and Trey gave occasional glances at her before swooping off the ledge.  Now both other chicks have come back and are vaguely interested in what Sis is doing.

The two chicks by the vent were just looking up into the sky for a little while.  Maybe they saw or heard P or T.  Only kept their attention for a few seconds and then one went back to lying down.
I love how they are awake more now.    They are just so cute...I know I have said it before but I can't help it...they are just so cute.
One thing...at the end of the CBC news they should the chicks in the buckets at yesterdays banding.  Sooo cute.

I know, she was identified as female while being banded. One of the chicks just made life exciting for anyone on the sidewalk with a well aimed 'poop shot' :D

pmg, from what I have observed, you can't tell who is male or female from hatching or early days into it. At banding they know by the size of the leg and feet, etc.

too funny with the chick laying on its stomach but trying to look over the edge at the same time.  a wee bit bigger and they can use the ledge as a pillow (as it's now doing, since the eyes have closed...)

that would result in a very stiff neck if that were a human!

two years ago the smallest chick was a female. She hatched a day or two after the others. Eventually she caught up with her older sibs, and grew to be bigger than her brothers.

don't worry about the ledge.  take a look at some other sites like Elk River and you will see they don't even have a ledge at all.  These are cliff birds.  :)
