I was watching earlier..preen preen, chunk of down blows away, preen preen, chunk of down blows away. They won't look like chicks much longer at this rate.

It is good to see the "chicks" perching on the drain.  My browser has a picture of the whole family from Thursday.  The chicks have gone from predominantly white to predominantly dark in just three days.

Was a dreary day yesterday, but sunshine now. Big fluffy white clouds zipping on past - lots of wind, but the chicks seem ok.

G'morning! Today I have the pleasure of finally seeing two chicks on the vent(preening & watching the world go by) after "hearing" about it ;D That is soo cute. The third chick is just napping by the ledge. Very happy to see sunshine there, wish it would now just head this way.
What troopers and smart birds to know how to handle the weather they went through the last couple of days.

Is that one of the parents just under the ledge? All I can see is what looks like ones head.

One of the males has figured out that if he wedges himself and the meal into the south corner the others can't get at it. The other two are looking more than a little ticked off.
The second male finally managed to get the food out and then the girl has grabbed it and has headed for the north corner!

One of the boys up on the ledge again. Looking very much at home, doing a little stretching and preening.  :o

Signed on this morning to see one on the ledge!!!! One on the vent and the other nearby...ok...thankfully a parent just arrived and said chick got off the ledge and went to say hello.parent took off again..probably dropped by to warn the chick about sitting on the ledge. Now all three(one on the vent) are looking out over the ledge.Do the parents discourage the chicks from sitting on the ledge at this age???

Watched a dark ledge for a quite some time this morning...my chick decided he wasn't sleeping anymore. Light came quickly a little while ago and, truthfully, the way the chicks were piled I thought there was only two. I'm not prone to jump the gun, but I was much relieved when one of the parents landed on the ledge and the chicks bolted 1-2-3. I think it was Trey, but my browser refreshed just as the parent was landing. When refreshed I saw the parent hopping from the north rail to the southern poop art zone, o flying away with chicks dogging him/her at each point. I would say they're hungry and expect to see a parent with breakfast quite soon.

uh, bcbird?  do you live one day in the future?  and if so, can you give me some lottery numbers?  (still dark, in case you were curious...)

From The Peregrine Chick: for those of you scratching your head over this, the thread was originally dated for the 29th, I corrected it ...

Very dark as usual, with no parent on the ledge.  Lots of cars in motion at this hour!

Great day for the chicks!  (Maybe it's easier to let boys fledge?  One son for me.)

you are absolutely right TPC. It's just that today reminded me of when my kids learned to do the scary stuff, and I had to let it happen, and now my grand daughters are learning how to do the scary stuff, and I have to let it happen. From watching Princess and Trey they are very good at encouraging the chicks to learn how to do the things they need to learn in order to survive. All in all, it was a good day for the chicks.
