My daily noon hour trip to cityPlace - July 15

Walking down Graham east to CP, at first I thought I was going to be disappointed. No one in the sky, no one on the corner trim. Then I heard the familiar cacking - and a racket it was too! Looked up and around, but couldn't see anyone. No one in the sky. No one on the Hydro logo (where I thought the sound was coming from). No one on the "a". And then I spy movement on the "n". Yes! Bobbing of heads and general jostling and cack-cack-cack. I think there may have been two birds. Young'uns for sure. But by the time I fished my "linderlou" specials (my $10 purse size binocs) from out of my purse and found them again, there look to be just one. But so pretty! The light playing on her (where ever it was coming from) made her "white" feathers shine like gold. That was about noon. She was still there when I left CP at about 12:30.

Are you able at anytime to see all four kids playing in the air or do the parents sort of take turns keeping track of a couple at a time ???
I haven't seen all 4 birds, but last week we saw 5 together, that was the day that the "biter" was in jail.  ;D
We should be seeing more of the parents getting involved very soon as they will start teaching the chicks how to get food from a mid-air drop and then how to hunt.

Thursday July 15       Air quality check.

Two of the kids having a great game of tag over the MTS Centre. swooping, diving, lazy circles, wow oh wow.
I watched them until they disappeared to the west side of Cityplace.

Nice way to start the day. ;D

What about the pigeon, bccs?
Bahahahaha, Sami, well since you asked.......  dumb fool thing was flying right in the air space where the kids get their training. You'd think it would know better, having a great ride on the thermals there. ::) ::)

From TPC's posting of the names and definitions :

Kali (Hindu) goddess of destruction & creation

This would have been a great fit for our little one!
Hi forum, just logged on for a few minutes, read the posts, and the name Isis definitely fits her reaction to TPC. Isis, goddess of protection. Dictionary definition of protect(ion) to shield from injury, danger, etc, defend.
A person or thing (bird) that protects. In her action toward TPC, she was in fact protecting and defending herself from unknown actions toward her. If a family member of mine were in an unknown position, I would hope they would react like Isis and protect/defend themself. Tpc, Isis certainly deserves the title you gave her, the little
-----! Hope you are recovering well.

looked up "Kali" and is wild and uncontrollable (spelling).  Also says "gentle mother".  So if those are true definitions she will be a good mom one day and a fierce fighter to protect them.  This is good!  Will check on Isis also and report later.
Love it, Kali is a better fit.

Great photos Dennis. From the one of TPC holding Isis, it's a wonder she didn't get a bite on the nose as well as her hand. Love the photos of Isis in the nestbox. Her look seems to say, "Hey, I've been here before but what's with the bars?" :D
Have to agree with you there.  She could have taken quite a bite that close to the face...luckily it didn't happen.
In one picture there is a large pile of left-overs .........reminds me of the pile outside of the barn!!!!!!!!! ::)

Isis.........."Egyptian goddess of protection".  Definition was with the names we could vote on for the chicks.  Have to admit that "our" Isis has the protection part under control.
