Thanks, TPC -- after admiring and studying those photos when Dennis sent them around, I should have recognized the description, but I will next time!

Ivy came and sat on the pipe of his perch

The pipe of his perch? Which perch is that, B? I'm trying to visualize the various places and I'm drawing a blank. As always, I do envy you your wonderful vantage point!

Ivy's Perch or Platform is on the roof of the Kensington Building.  Dennis had a little contest going to see who could identify its location - here's one of his photos:

One was on the dot of the I having breakfast. All I could see was a bum so I don't know which one.  It finished, dropped the lefovers and flew around to the nestbox. A few minutes later, Ivy came and sat on the pipe of his perch and she flew off east towards the river.

" All of them are individual personalities, all of them I knew better than I know most people, I share memories with them that are impossible to adequately describe."

This is incredibly moving.
Thankyou, TPC.

Tracey, this gives even more meaning to seeing our peregrines, swoop and fly overhead.

These birds are so lucky to share their lives with you as we are lucky that you share it all with us.

A joy shared is a miracle. Thank you TPC!

I second Helen B's comment. I have a huge amount of respect for you, Tracy -- for the heart that you give to the project and the falcons, and for the knowledge that you're so willing to share with all of us. Thank you.

Real life has been cutting into my play time here on the Forum so I've tried to catch up with posts as I come across them.  If I've missed anyone's question, let me know and I'll try to answer them.

What I can answer now is that yes, Trey has not returned home.  No, we don't know what, if anything, has happened to him.  He could turn up tomorrow, he could turn up next year or he could never return and we could never know what happened to him.  I banded Trey in 1996 and have been following his progress ever since.  (I banded his predecessor Simba as well but he wasn't around long enough to really get to know him.)  T-Rex was Trey's dad and he was our quintessential bird of prey (emphasis on the preying part).  Pop, our original male was an enigma and the first bird I worked with.  Madame I knew through all of them and used to visit as she maintain her lonely winter vigil.  All of them are individual personalities, all of them I knew better than I know most people, I share memories with them that are impossible to adequately describe.  I do not know what happened to any of them which I take as a karmic reward, I like the idea that they have retired to a life of inciting chaos and mayhem on one of Manitoba's marshes even though I know that is unlikely.  Ivy is the fourth generation Radisson male, I named him in the hopes that he would be (Radisson IV) when I banded him.  He has come back and waited for this site to open up as did both his father and grandfather.  He bears an uncanny resemblence (in different ways) to both of them and he could do wonderful things given the opportunity, again like both his father and grandfather.  I miss watching T-Rex truly rule the skies here in Winnipeg, he used to recognize me in parking lots and come circling down to warn me he was watching me.  I miss Trey's ability to be all things to Princess and his chicks, T-Rex was an amazing father, but Trey had him beat hands down.  I don't know what Ivy will be, but he comes from the best and he looks to be starting his journey here, just the way they did.  I will always hope that the peregrine I see flying overhead is Trey, just as I sometimes think its T-Rex or Madame when i see a familiar dip or twist.  For now, that's enough.

Dennis and I visited the nestbox and the yo-honking huge scrape that was there last weekend has been filled in and a smaller one has be scraped just the left of it.  Does mean the birds are continuing to consider the nestbox.  Also means no eggs yet ....
