2018 NESTING SEASON

april13 2018

our green girl returned.

we could see the M just  have to get the rest.
Peter and I watched her last night.

this video is compliments of Emyrauld

I am so sorry about last season. for  some reason I thought I  had posted everything here, but it was a rough year for us personally and so....
but after the initial turnover of males w e had a successful year. 1 male an d 1 female were taken to  Pembina as we rescued them and 2 huge females, fledged successfully to migration. They drove us absolutely nuts, as they were so huge and flew all overan landed on everything. But they  were also a hoot to watch. our two at Pembina did great .

so now another season starts and we wait to see who our male will be

I'm posting information initially shared by Newchick on another board ...

And here's the latest specs from AB site.

http://www.ab-conservation.com/wildlife-cameras/peregrine/weber-centre-peregrine-camera/

The only one I have an inkling of an idea as to where the nest is at the Weber center.

we have 4 chicks here . B72 is proving to be a really good young male . He  incubated the eggs, that were not his and hunted an d is bringing in food regularly for th e young ones. sometimes he can be a brat like now, he should be with kids.  ::)

Green girl hatched out all 4 within 22 hours. She is like  her mom, RAdisson,  and grandma, Princess

So B72 is a 2015 hatch from U of a [/b]

we started off season with Green girl adn D01 /. They had 4 eggs.

weber may6

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that on Tuesday , may 2, D01 lost possession of his site after a lengthy challenge. there is no indication that he got hurt, just that he has been displaced. We did a lengthy check of area .

you probably noticed fewer posts in my Edmonton sites. This is because Peter and I were monitoring many long hours from the ground and the cam. My friend , Emyrauld, was there at the cam, when we were on the ground.

D01 is a great tiercel and had a strong bond with Green girl. I hate to see this broken .

So I have had my time to process, and now we must move on. Every once in a while you find a special falcon. D01 was that for me.,as was MIss Edmonton. I remember when Green first came on the scene and had her first brood. D01 brought her in a prey and she dropped it on a chick and said , "well now feed yourselves "LOL. D01 patiently showed her the ropes . some say it is survival of the fittest, but not at all times. . I am hoping to see D01 again.[/b]

the new male is a 2015 hatch from U of A . This does not make it any easier for me, even if I watched him from an egg.

Was at the Weber Centre yesterday, the top parkade surface is being refurbished, it's about 6 floors up, and a short break, I could hear one of the "birdies" letting the workers know they weren't happy, by kacking away at them.  Surprised they haven't been "dive bombed" yet.

Sign on the entry door with a pic of a falcon "saying we are learning to stretch our wings, should you find a chick in distress call...."

if they can keep the cam up, we can monitor better. With 4 chicks we like to make sure all are fed. For the ost part all going well. Green has become just like her mom Radisson.
D01 is the best. He had come in after green with prey and topped up , or just comes  and does a feed. he is sometimes intercepted by Green

june3

DO1 thought if he came in with prey, he would feed NOt.  :egglaugh":  :egglaugh":
