Uh oh.....fluff, for the bed of the nest!
I hope someone can make it over to this nest in the wee hours of the morning to dismantle it, if of course it is safe to do so (ie:  no eggs).
We all hear and feel your pain Bev.  All of us don't want any fighting either so hopefully someone can get rid of this new nest so the ravens can build somewhere else with time to spare and this nestbox is ready for the return of our precious falcons.

The weather has warmed up a bit here and should be nice for the next week which should mean a falcon or 2.

Now our male is small , if you remember.  Radisson did not show up till later last year, so I guess it depends on  where they are coming from.

I am not giving up ,I am just so heart sick.  I saw too many fights in the last 2 years,

And I am hoping our male made it through the winter.

when I read someone saw a falcon , I thought what did I miss. I have been watching in silence .
Raven back in with fluff in her mouth.

I use a water gun at the lake when the crows take up their noisy discourse at 6AM. They fly over a few streets and bother the neighbors for a while.

That a girl Bev.  You keep clapping those hands together to get them to move!
Hey....ever thought of a water gun?  Some of those can shoot water pretty far.
Since there has not been a falcon sighting yet, is someone going to tackle this nest again and dismantle it, with of course hopes that the Ravens can built a nest somewhere else??

thanks ELI.  Where were you .last year when I needed you???? ;D ;D ;D

You saw what I saw. sometimes the  male stays at the heart building and waits. yes, he was her shadow and that is what worries me. Because they usually do not come back together. and if the female goes to that box she is going to be trapped in there.  :o :odid you see the white structure beside the box ELI?

Now please do not laugh here.  I was up on the parkade roof with my husband yesterday, watching and the female raven went over my head to a tree behind the parkade. well the magpies were making a fuss and there I was clapping my hands, saying SHOO.SHOO. and then I started clapping my hands at the one on the clinical science roof adjacent to nest box. My husband was laughing , saying they are too high up.

But if this works out for the peregrines give me a ring ELI and I will show you all the spots.

this is quite the dilemma

WOW!  That nest has gotten a lot more serious looking in the last two hours -- lots of twigs.  Pretty crappy nest buillding tho -- lucky they've got built-in walls.

Thanks for the update, Eli.  It's good to have another view of what's going on -- more eyes are better than less!

I went down to the Clinical Sciences Building this afternoon to see for myself what was happening.  I must say, those ravens are tireless, and industrious like crazy.  The male rides shotgun for the female every step of the way - she is never left alone.  They come and go all the time, and as we all know, they rebuilt the nest very quickly, and are still at it.  I watched and watched for falcons, but none were to be seen.  There are so many birds in the area it is hard to keep track of everything - there are also a fair number of bird body parts throughout the area.  I just don't know what to think anymore, because the ravens work so hard to get everything in order for eggs, and yet the peregrines, as Bev mentioned, are an endangered species.  This is a nerve-racking situation.

Don't worry bcbird.  It just shows that all of us are very concerned and we're going crazy thinking about it.

No worries bcbird..the falcons are due back literally any day now - we're all on edge  :o.  In fact when I got up this morning I had a gut feeling one would be back today so who knows.

OOOOOPS!  Now who is completely embarrassed?  It was a raven!
I didn't realize I'd typed falcon instead of raven until I saw all these posts,
I'm very sorry to have caused so much panic and false hope.

Either way, any day now one or two or three of em will be back.  And yes that second nest sure went up fast!

Yup...there we go, Raven in the nestbox on Cam 3!  And gone in a flash, must be bringing sticks back and forth.  Oh wait, mom is inside the box it looks like..gees they move fast!
