One of the chicks keeps looking at the camera, much like mom used to do.  They're getting so big!   ;D

I don't know what it is about his year...seems to be a lot of storms, hence more rain!!!!  At least they are sheltered!

The lightning isn't frequent but it's intense.

I know the upper part of the nestbox is well lit at night, but we did see P&T both hunkering down and sleeping "face-plant" style (like the chicks do), so I'm assuming she could do that if she wanted.  Don't know why the light seems to mesmerize her at night - perhaps she can sleep with her eyes open - I've seen people do that!  It's creepy when people do it, honestly.   :P

But, they surely knew the lighting conditions when they selected the nestbox, so I'll defer to their judgement.  Especially since the chicks are doing so very well!   ;D

Wow, huge bulging crop on the chick closest to the camera! That grey skin area must be what TPC mentioned one time when describing how Princess uses that part of her to really keep the chicks warm....I might be getting a little confused on that, but I remember something about it and i don't think i've actually ever seen the bare skin part before... thought it was neat!

Just witnessed my first tug-of-war.  You're right, it is hilarious!   ;D  I'm glad that they're big enough now that if one is getting the short end of the stick, s/he can find a way to get a fairer share.

Actually, unless mum lays down, the top two-thirds of her is always in the light. She usually is closer to the camera and still lit up at night. If you look at the back of the box, it's all lit up above the chicks....so unfortunately, she's kinda stuck! Do adult peregrines ever lay down apart from the hunching down they do when incubating and 'sitting' on young chicks? I often wondered about that, but assumed they didn't, especially when 'guarding' chicks...which leads me to a 'dumb, I should probably know this' question -- if adult peregrines never lay down, don't their legs get tired?!?

Interesting.  There is a chick pile of sleep for tonight.  Mom appears to be choosing to be in the light.  Clearly she could choose to tuck her head and be in the box and be shielded like the chicks, but she isn't.

All appears calm.   :)  See you all tomorrow.

Looks like someone needs to get rid of some "undigestible" things.  Plus deciding to be on top and spread its wings!  funny  ;D ;D

holey moley, that crop is as big as the chick, nearly!  Of course, I saw it gulp down a leg...  which probably won't be staying down, I'm guessing.   :P
