Did anyone manage to save any pics of the territorial battle a couple of days ago? I missed it, of course, and I'd really like to know which falcons were involved. It sounds as if 30/B has been displaced? I hope not - she has had enough difficulties in her life already, and she can't really go back to Sherco, since there is a pair at that nest now.

This pic of 30/B (sent to Raptor Resource by Brenda Hoskyns of GRE) shows the problem 30/B has with her foot.

I have yet to see anyone.  I guess it's because I don't check in til after work -- earlier in the day seems to be exciting!

I think that 'mom' has another challenger for her nest!  That cute little black bird is back again acting like it's her house  ;D ;D

Well, our falcon really started screeching about something, and was very agitated and moving about the nest, looking up and down, but I could not see what the fuss was about.  I don't know if he/she was really upset about other birds flying near the nest, or really excited because his/her mate showed up.  I hope it was the mate!

It is a beautiful day in Minnesota, and our Elk River falcon is on the ledge.  I can't tell if it is the female or not because of the logo, which prevents getting a good look.

I tried to do a few searches on 30B and didn't find out anymore that we already know.  One interesting thing though is I read a report on Minnesota peregrines from last Fall and apparently there are alot of tiercel floaters there as they determined given the number of nest fights so on the plus side - the peregrines seem to be increasing in population!  So if the male did go with 30B, 'mom' won't have trouble finding a replacement!

That's what I'm wondering, maybe the male took off with 30B especially if he was her mate from Sherco - maybe they were both displaced and not just 30B?  and in that case he wouldn't really be bonded with this site.

Do you know Maggie?

Unfortunately I don't know the answer to that question and haven't been able to find out anything elsewhere.  Perhaps when the 2009 banding report comes out we can find out. A long time to wait though  :-\

Has anyone noticed a male peregrine at this site at all yet?  Seems only the 2 females and this one keeps crying for someone but no one is showing up at all.  Wonder if the male is not back yet, he's probably laying up in a tree somewhere in South America!  ;D

I am sure that the peregrine on the outside bar that 30B was "sweet talking" back and forth with was a male.  I wonder if there is ever a situation where the male takes off with the "losing" falcon.

Lol..I know!  Her and her mate have been around a few days now.  The first day they arrived was cute, it was like watching 2 little people choose a house - they looked it all over inside and out and started chatting to each as if they were saying "it's very spaceous and airy, let's buy it"!!

Tracy, I can't take a shot at work but will try tonight if she's home - she's black and has a long thin beak - I looked up some birds, might be a starling maybe.

UH OH PEREGRINE HOME AND UPSET...Black Bird Flew out pretty darn fast!!!!

That cute little blackbird is back again today, sunning and preening on the ledge.  Hopefully one of the peregrines doesn't catch her!

Yes TPC...not sure where the light source is coming from but it was there last year as well  :)

It's wonderful as you can watch the falcons all day and all night... ::)
