RCF, is there something we have to do to be able to access the cam?  When I click on the link, the cam isn't there...When I tried to sign up for the newsletter, thinking that they must require a sign-up, it wouldn't let me... ???

From information at another forum they are pretty sure Mary Ellen and Brooklyn are the returning pair.  Plus they have an egg...... :)

Yes, the fifth egg is still there and still being included in the "shuggle" when the adults get all the chicks back under after a feeding. But it looks like it won't hatch.
Four is quite enough!

ps: they were playing with the cameras today and testing out the angle that looks front-on into the nestbox, preparing for when the chicks are older.

Thanks, RCF. All I ever see is big pile of white fluff under her, and I couldn't see the egg. Mary Ellen is going to be busy with her babies, not just feeding them but keeping them sheltered.  :)

It would have been cool to see five but I agree with RCF, 4 is a lot to feed and as they grow the box gets pretty crowded.

Does anyone know if the 5th egg hatched? I never seem to catch a shift change when checking on this nest.

No, there is still one egg. At this point I don't think it is going to hatch.   Four is plenty to feed.  ;)

I've noticed these past few days that when Mary Ellen returns to the chicks after a meal or shift change, she pauses and looks down at them for a while before shuffling over them. I wonder what her bird brain is thinking?

Just like the old woman in the shoe, who had so many children she didn't know what to do! :o

Probably wondering what she is going to do when the other one hatches.  That will be quite the crowd to try to keep under her.
