I probably shouldn't say this, so knock on wood, knock on wood, knock on wood, after the excitement that really wasn't very exciting of Ella usurping Hazel's nestsite and mate, this has been a very quiet and gentle in a peregrine way, nesting season so far at the Radisson. Not complaining, nice to see Ella and Pandemic have an easy time of it. Going to get warmer this week and Chicklet will be old enough to thermoregulate in a couple more days so Ella and Pandemic Will me more "mum-brella" than duvet very shortly.

Can also say that banding will be on/shortly after the long weekend. Have a nest to band in Saskatchewan before then - maybe even the nest at West Wpg. At West Wpg, I've put off checking on them for as long as I can - new pair and have to do it in-person so had to make sure the chicks/chicks could be uncovered if the parents take extra time to return to the nestbox. If they hatched, I think they might be a couple/few days older than Radisson. We have two other nests in the province - unfortunately, not one in Brandon 😢 , and it is unlikely I will get a chance to band the chicks from those sights.  Having said that, the male at West Wpg was a chick from one of those nests that we managed to catch on the ground and band on the spot as he was just grounded not injured. I'm hoping to check on that little smiley in the next week so maybe more news on them soon too!  Bit of a mosh-mash of site/bird info here so will also post on their boards so if folks have questions I can answer now that's the place to do it. Or wait until I'm able to provide more info in the next week ... 😁

Oh TPC, Ella says you can catch up on your ZZZZ's in the winter.  :D

And before anyone asks if I was really concerned, the answer is yes. Been tracking this freaking bird every couple of hours on my phone and I could never catch her feeding the damn chick. And at one point earlier this morening I causer a tiny glimpse of the chick and I seriously thought it was a goner - no movement at all.  Shades of Ella's sister Spencer who sucked at first feedings.  Chicks need to get fed in first 6 hours after hatch (that's my experience) and I didn't catch her feeding the chick - babies this young are hard to feed (no strength or coordination) and Ella has never been quick at it before - guess that has changed. Going to have to scour the recordings later today to see when the feedings I missed!

Bloody bird - not getting the sleep I lost back, that's for sure!!!

RCF thinks there might be two under there but I can't see it (yet) - would be nice though 😁
