West Winnipeg - 2017 / Ty & Faith

<< < (7/21) > >>

The Peregrine Chick:
on my most recent "visit" via camera, could only find one chick and it was in the shade.  Suspect that is where the others are too, just out of camera range.  It is typically what they and all the other WW chicks do when it is sunny and hot.

The Peregrine Chick:
as of 0600h this morning, three chicks at the Diner and one adult, Faith I think by the size but the light was making it hard (sun shining directly into the camera).  May have seen adult and chick on-camera at the Bleachers but at that distance, size can be a bit of an issue.  No reports yet, so that is good.

Chicks at fledge time yesterday were between 40 and 42 days old.  And these chicks are bigger than the Radisson chicks but not so large as the Logan chicks.

Exciting day!

Chick launched at 6:51, watched chick and one adult fly around to other side of building and lost track of them. At 6:58 Ty landed on the back of the building where I could capture his landing. At 7:01 the chick was back in sight flying above the building.

Went back to the site to check on them about 8:45. Spotted all four chicks plus Ty on the building. One of the chicks was screaming at Ty and advancing, probably asking/demanding food. Ty decided he was having none of this.

When I left there were four chicks on the walls (one on the east, three on the north), Ty was at the Bleachers and Faith at the Tower.

The Peregrine Chick:
At least two chicks back tucked down together in the nestbox this evening.  No reports of problems for our first (we think) fledge from here this year.  Thanks Dupre for letting us know!

dupre501:
Just watched one Falcon chick launch off northeast corner of building.
