;D Awesome!  And so happy She chose the box this year.  With her age, and the fact that She's incubating, I guess it's the best we can get out of the Grande Ole Dame.  Are the cameras going up and operational soon?

I am happy Princess chose the nest box this year. Just as there is an upward swing toward warmer weather, they are forecasting heavy rains for Friday and Saturday.  :)

Second Egg for Princess and Smiley.

I think it was actually laid about 2100h last night based on Princess' posture and behaviour but we lose the light in the box at that time of the day at this time of the year, so all I can say definitively is that before the sun went down last night there was 1 egg in the box and when the sun came up this morning there were 2.

In past years, did Princess take as much time between the first and second egg? Or is it her age?

Not usually so long between one and two but she laid Mistral quite a few days later than her sibs and she has stall eggs from hatching in 2009 and she lost only one chick rather than al of them in that rainy spring.  It's all up to her - if it is just one chick it will still be another Princess kid with the potential to do as well as so many of her offspring - Alley, Ivy, Radisson, Hurricane, Ty, Beatrix and Hart.

Congratulations on egg #1 Princess and Smiley!

Love the updates and hearing about their questionable housekeeping skills  :o

Still just one egg so far, but she's been crouching over the egg for the last hour and a bit - could be the egg doesn't need to be warmer and she's not in the mood to leave OR she could be gearing up to produce egg 2.  Time will tell.
