Nellie's second fledge was at 0551h this morning and was very deliberate .. looked good ...

Right from the get-go these three super-chicks have taken on the world, growing and developing at warp speed it seems.  A couple of minor glitches, just to show that they're not perfect, but super they are and I sure hope we see more of them before the season's over!

Then there was none, the nest box is empty...appears Nellie has fledged. I'm sure TPC can check and see what time she went this morning.

I have been online for 45 minutes and there has been no sign of Nellie.

A little change of view so folks can watch the fireworks over Assiniboine Park - Nellie got up to watch them as well

And someone was launching some much smaller fireworks on Portage Avenue past Investors - maybe at the University of Winnipeg? Maybe not that far?

Am leaving the cam on the balcony as I'm sure she will be out on the balcony as soon as it gets light in the morning!
And yes, she's sound asleep in all the feathers (and other things) from previous meals ... ( )

She was just on the ledge with no wingersizing happening, and then went into the box.  Safe for the night hopefully!

And next time I look she's gone- did she take the leap, or is she back in the 'house'?? 

Back in the house and now out again.  Not sure she's in any great hurry to leave - her first experience was by accident and so she may well be taking her own sweet time, which is just fine, so long as she keeps "practicing" on the box and on the nestledge!

I've switched the cam views now that Nellie is outside ... there is always a bit of a delay between when I switch and when it shows online ...

Canada Day meal just delivered. Lots of squawking. For an instant I saw a shadow of wings on the nest ledge. Meal being devoured.

as of 1345h - Nellie is the last chick in the nestbox - not surprising, as I recall, Nellie was the biggest of the three chicks here. 



Went back through the recordings and all three chicks had lots of playtime on the nestledge yesterday (photo above) and at least one of them stayed on the nestledge overnight.  This morning at 0523h Dixon took off from the nestledge leaving Cora on the ledge and Nellie in the box.  Cora sort of followed Dixon a couple of hours later (0617h) when both she and Nellie were wingercising - they bumped wings and she took off.  Nellie has continued to hang out, wingercize and nap without her siblings today.  She doesn't seem too twitchy though ... might mean she can see her sibs but we can't with our cameras or from the ground.  Or she isn't concerned about being by herself in the nestbox.
