Is it too cold for them to be  "by themselves" for this long? I know a parent is somewhere near by... and Princess has been doing this a long time...

Princess is back - tried to shove everyone under but it ain't gonna happen - shuggle....shuggle, at this time Mom is more like a lean-to than a blanket - but all cuddling together they're probably warm enough - supposed to rain ALOT later today & tomorrow - hopefully they all shuffle over towards the back of the box more under cover.  8)

Kids have been on their own for a while now, snuggling, adjusting, fidgeting, squirming - 'Come on back Mom, it's getting chilly in here' !  ;D

11:58 and it is lunch time!!  One chick was trying to sleep, then it was facing backwards.  I think it is now on the right page. ;)

1005 hrs

Princess is on the chicks and is tucked inside (can't see her on the skycam) out of the weather.

Thanks TPC!!  I was trying to fit in locations on the rivers, or Fort Whyte and couldn't make any of them work. Never realized they would go that far out. I'm surprised we haven't seen them in our backyard. We're on the river in Charleswood and frequently have more than 25 various ducks in the yard as well as other birds. We certainly get other raptors - Northern Harriers and the occasional Bald Eagle.

There have been a few references to "OHM" recently. Please, what/where is it?

So very sorry Sue, my fault.  OHM is Oak Hammock Marsh Wildlife Management Area which is about 20 minutes north of the City (about 1 hour from the Radisson).  Its a large wetland complex between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba - the closest large wetland complex to the City and a Ramsar site (http://www.ramsar.org/cda/en/ramsar-home/main/ramsar/1_4000_0__)

I finally got approval to be part of this forum - surprising how long it took! Just wanted to say how great it is to read all the information that is posted about the new family. My classroom and I have been watching for weeks now and it has made for great discussion and writing. Thanks to all who post info, and especially TPC - so many are so much more aware of the peregrines now and have made a faithful following.

Quick question - is there sort of a loose timing of when the chicks are fed - haven't caught a feeding yet! Do appreciate the pics though...

You are welcome and welcome ESP Chickita Classroom!

Feedings occur about every 3 hours at this point, but can take longer in bad weather.  Heck even in good weather its a little more flexible.

Question for Everyone:  Is it just me (or my login schedule) or have there been more morning meals than afternoon ones so far this year?  I'll be going to check the video but thought I would ask the "gang" here ..

Just curious - how long do you think it would it take Ivy (or Princess) to fly to OHM, as the peregrine flies of course?
Care to give an estimate - let alone catching, killing prey, then returning?

We once clocked a resident male at 10 minutes from OHM to the Radisson, but can't say that was the fastest or most direct flight though.

Just watched a feeding, Princess made sure everyone got some.  Ivy came in after to snuggle the kids and when Princess came back ,he couldn't move fast enough to leave. He was moving so fast the screen capture is blurry.

:-* A most sincere welcome ESP and classroom . You will certainly love watching and listening to our Radisson Royals as the days go by. They grow day by day, so don't blink. If you keep the sound up, as birdcamfam suggests, you will be amazed by the sounds. gmc :)

Welcome ESP, and gemcitygemini is right, The sound is how you can tell! I left mine on all nite and was woken up more than once by the racket!! LOL
